As Party Cell Secretary and Head of Hamlet 1, Vam Co Commune, Tay Ninh Province, Mr. Luu Hong Son (born in 1969) is a pioneer and exemplary person in all activities, contributing his efforts to help the hamlet develop more and more, and to constantly improve people's lives.

After being discharged from the army, Mr. Son returned to his hometown, taking care of agricultural production to develop the family economy . In 2007, he was trusted and elected by the people as Hamlet Chief. From 2018 to present, he has been the Party Cell Secretary and Hamlet Chief 1.

During nearly two decades of working at the grassroots level, Mr. Son has always been trusted and respected by the people for his dedication, responsibility and wholeheartedness for the development of the locality. Mr. Son said: "The work in the hamlet is for the people, doing something useful for the people is the greatest joy."

Currently, Hamlet 1 has 485 households with more than 2,200 people. Under the leadership of the Party Cell and the dynamism and exemplary role of Mr. Son, the rural appearance is increasingly improving. The canal and ditch system is regularly dredged, ensuring irrigation for agricultural production. Most of the roads in the hamlet are concreted or paved, with lighting installed, making it easier to travel and transport agricultural products. Many roads have been and are continuing to be upgraded and expanded, such as Tran Thi Tram Street, which is being expanded from 2.5m to 3.5m, at a cost of more than 2 billion VND, of which the people contributed 415 million VND and voluntarily donated land.

“When implementing the road construction policy, mobilizing people to donate land was not easy. Many households understood and were willing to support, but some households were still hesitant. We were not discouraged, we persistently went to each house, explaining in detail the long-term benefits: wide roads, convenient traffic, land value and people's lives were all improved. Listening to the officials' reasonable and emotional words, gradually people agreed and voluntarily donated land. When the road was completed, everyone was happy, because they themselves saw the practical benefits from that consensus,” Mr. Son shared.

The work of ensuring security and order in the hamlet is also focused on. Mr. Son and the members of the hamlet committee mobilized the installation of dozens of security cameras, contributing to supporting the police force in managing and handling incidents, helping people live in peace. The security camera model with the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise, people benefit" has clearly promoted effectiveness, strengthening the bond between the government and the people.

In addition, Mr. Son and the Hamlet Committee also do a good job in social security. From 2018 to now, Hamlet 1 has mobilized the construction of 11 houses of gratitude and love, supported 4 houses with a budget of 200 million VND and given more than 600 gifts to poor, near-poor households and policy families. The poverty rate has decreased to less than 1%.

Mr. Son added: “As a hamlet cadre, the most important thing is to be close to the people, understand them and make them trust. There are things that seem small, but if you do them wholeheartedly, transparently, and listen to the people, the people will agree and everything will go smoothly”./.
