70,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed; Kiev says Russia blew up Kurakhove reservoir... are notable news about the Russia-Ukraine war on the morning of November 13.

The Ukraine-Russia war is taking place with many unexpected developments on all fronts.

Nearly 70,000 Ukrainian troops killed in October

According to Sina news site, the Russia-Ukraine war had its most devastating month, with 69,000 Ukrainian troops being taken out of action in a month and Russia capturing Ukrainian territory the size of Singapore in October alone.

In October this year, the Russia-Ukraine conflict reached an unprecedented intensity, becoming the costliest month of the entire war. According to Russian information, in October alone, the Russian army eliminated about 69,000 Ukrainian troops, a figure that set a new high in just one month in recent wars.

October was also the month when the Russian army made the fastest progress. They captured 556 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which is equivalent to the area of a small country like Singapore.

However, this fierce battle also brought huge casualties to the Russian army. Victor Kavlyuk, an expert at the Center for National Defense Strategy of Ukraine, pointed out that in October, the number of casualties of the Russian army reached 57,500, a shocking number. In addition, tanks, armored vehicles and other heavy weapons of the Russian army also suffered serious losses, which certainly had a significant impact on the combat effectiveness of the Russian army.

After fierce fighting in October, the Russian army approached important areas such as the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove-Ugledar defense line in southern Donetsk, Kupyansk in Kharkov; Toretsk, Chasov Yar in Donetsk. In the Kursk region, the Russian army also forced the Ukrainian army into an area of only 600 square kilometers. This series of events shows that the Russian army is gradually approaching strategic goals, but at the same time is facing huge challenges.

So far, although the Russian army has inflicted heavy losses on Ukraine’s main forces, it has also suffered considerable losses. According to figures from the Ukrainian General Staff, the Russian army has lost 9,208 tanks, 18,581 armored vehicles and 20,150 artillery pieces. These figures not only reveal the brutality of the war, but also reflect the enormous attrition of Russia.

It is worth noting that T-72 tanks, T-80 tanks, BMP-1 and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as Soviet-era self-propelled and towed artillery pieces, were used in large numbers in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Due to the poor protection of these vehicles, when an explosion occurs, the occupants of the vehicle will often be unable to escape, resulting in huge casualties.

Regarding ammunition supplies, according to Ukrainian intelligence, 60% of Russia's artillery shells now come from a number of countries and 10% from Iran, the remaining 30% comes from Russian defense factories that are working day and night to produce them. The large-caliber artillery shells that Russia inherited from the Soviet Union are basically gone; this situation certainly poses a serious challenge to Russia's ability to continue the war.

Russia rains missiles on Odessa, destroying Western mercenaries

According to Sohu, the war situation is increasingly tense as the US speeds up aid to Ukraine through the port of Odessa, forcing Russia to speed up its attacks in this area.

Sohu quoted CCTV as saying that recently, the Russian army carried out a surprise attack on Odessa, with missile attacks lasting more than two hours.

During the attack, the Russian military hit several Ukrainian ammunition depots, and Western forces stationed near the port of Odessa were also the main targets. Explosions were heard continuously and many ambulances rushed to the scene, carrying away many wounded people on stretchers.

Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Russian Navy has not shown its strength as expected. Only in the early stages of the war, the Russian Black Sea Fleet supported attacks in southern Ukraine with missiles from warships, but then almost disappeared.

During the war with Ukraine, every time the Russian Navy appeared, it was almost always due to a surprise attack by the Ukrainian Army. Most recently, the Caspian Fleet, which is located in Russia's strategic rear area, was also attacked.

In a desperate situation, the Russian military had no choice but to mobilize its air force to attack port cities like Odessa in Ukraine. The Russian military launched multiple missile attacks on port facilities, destroying warehouses, power systems, and surrounding transportation infrastructure, in order to cut off NATO military aid to Ukraine.

Kiev accuses Russia of damaging Kurakhove reservoir

The Ukrainian-appointed governor of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, has accused the Russian military of damaging the Kurakhove reservoir.

The Russian side has damaged the Kurakhove reservoir. This attack has created a potential threat to residents of Donetsk and Dnipro provinces. As of 4 p.m. on November 11, the water level in the Velikonovosilkiv settlement has risen by 1.2 meters. So far, we have not recorded any flooding. We will continue to monitor the situation ,” the Kyiv Independent newspaper quoted Filashkin as saying in a Telegram post.

The Russian military has not yet commented on the above allegations.

The Russian army, after taking control of Vuhledar early last month, has stepped up military operations against the city of Kurakhove, located nearly 30km north of Vuhledar.
