On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), President of the Latin American multinational media group (teleSUR) Patricia Villegas sent warm congratulations, praising VNA as a typical model of world revolutionary journalism, and affirmed that the Vietnamese national news agency is an example for many international media agencies to learn from, especially in terms of its ability to orient public opinion and pioneering spirit in the fight against fake news.
Speaking at a reception for VNA correspondents in Latin America in Caracas, teleSUR President Patricia Villegas emphasized that with 8 decades of formation and development, VNA has proven its irreplaceable role, both as a loyal and strong voice of the Party and State of Vietnam and as a national press agency with outstanding capacity, always innovating to meet the requirements of the digital media era.
Introducing teleSUR, Ms. Villegas said that this is a multimedia channel established at the initiative of Venezuela, along with many Latin American countries, with the mission of protecting the region's independent voice and creating a different flow of information from the domination of Western media corporations.
teleSUR currently broadcasts in many languages, has a network of reporters worldwide, and focuses on issues related to social justice, national sovereignty and people's right to access honest information.
According to the Chairman of teleSUR, throughout the process of formation and development, teleSUR has always considered reporting on Vietnam as one of the top priorities, especially about history, culture, country - people and ideology, as well as the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh .
On that basis, teleSUR hopes to continue writing stories about Vietnam's achievements in defending and building the country, especially about the burning aspiration for development in the "era of rising up" - a comprehensive, inclusive and profound action program initiated and led by General Secretary To Lam.
Appreciating the news content of VNA posted on the electronic information portal in Spanish, the Chairman of teleSUR expressed his wish to soon establish a cooperative relationship with VNA to convey authentic and authentic news about the cause of innovation and the new era of development of Vietnam.

At the meeting, teleSUR President Villegas emphasized: “If VNA is the official, loyal and proud voice of the Vietnamese revolution, then teleSUR is the symbol of Latin American revolutionary media - where peoples are together affirming their independence and autonomy. Both share the mission of orienting public opinion, fighting against information manipulation and persistently protecting the truth.”
According to her, this similarity opens up many opportunities for practical cooperation between the two press agencies.
In particular, Ms. Villegas proposed to hold an online meeting with the leaders of VNA as soon as possible to specify the steps, before signing a cooperation document, and expressed her belief that the connection between VNA and teleSUR will contribute to enriching the flow of progressive information in the world, serving the common goal of protecting truth, justice and the aspiration for peace of all peoples.
Founded in July 2005 in the capital Caracas following the idea of the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro and the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, with the mission of conveying an objective perspective on the region and the world, teleSUR has reached far and become one of the leading television channels in Latin America, constantly expanding its scope of operations globally.
More than just a television station, teleSUR is now a media group that owns multimedia platforms in Spanish and English, including web pages, social networks and many other media formats such as text, video, audio... with coverage in more than 130 countries and territories./.
