On September 19, ANI news agency quoted Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal as denying Reuters news agency's information that the country was shifting defense product exports to Ukraine.

Asserting that the Reuters report alluded to non-existent Indian violations, Mr. Jaiswal said it was malicious, misleading and inaccurate speculation.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi has an impeccable record of compliance with international obligations in military and dual-use exports and exports of defence products based on a strict legal framework, including comprehensive assessment of relevant criteria such as end-user obligations and certification.

Earlier, a Reuters report quoted 11 Indian, European and defense industry officials as saying that Indian artillery shells purchased by European intermediaries had been supplied to Ukraine for more than a year.

On the same day, India's The Hindu newspaper quoted a defense source as saying that the country had rejected Israel's request to supply artillery shells in the early days of the Gaza conflict. This decision reflected India's policy of "resolute neutrality" in international conflicts.

According to sources, Israel had requested 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, but India had taken a policy decision not to supply them. The reason given was that “Israel could not honour its commitments”. There are very few defence exports from India to Israel at present.
