Three safety notes when conquering Fairy Mountain in Nha Trang

VnExpressVnExpress24/02/2024

Khanh Hoa According to locals, first-time visitors climbing Co Tien Mountain need to be in good health, go with someone experienced, and avoid staying overnight to avoid snakes and fires.

Fairy Mountain is located in the north of Nha Trang City, about 400 m high, with 3 adjacent peaks, resembling a young girl with loose hair and looking up to the sky. This is an ideal camping spot for many tourists, from the top you can see the whole view of the coastal city.

Mr. Pham Vu Thanh An, a teacher at Vo Van Ky Primary School, Nha Trang City, who has many years of experience climbing Co Tien Mountain, said that this mountain is not too high, suitable for many people and tourists. Most of the mountain is low-leaf forest and has a single path so there is no fear of getting lost.

However, the mountain range has many steep sections passing through three peaks, so climbers need to distribute their strength . When going down, be careful because many sections are slippery, and if you are not familiar with the road, it is easy to get injured. Especially for tourists and people who like to experience the night, they need to keep a flashlight and a spare charger with them.

According to Mr. An, the most important thing when climbing Co Tien Mountain is to have good health, drinking water, easy-to-move clothes, a climbing stick and a flashlight. For first-timers, they should go with someone experienced, absolutely do not go alone .

"On the mountain, each season has its own beauty. Winter is suitable for cloud hunting, spring is when the trees have new green leaves, and especially in summer, the forest leaves are as golden as the sky in Europe," said Mr. An, adding that summer is also the most suitable time for mountain climbing experiences. If locals and tourists have stargazing equipment, this place is also a "wonderful place".

During the journey, when reaching the first mountain peak (200 m high), visitors can take souvenir photos in three locations: facing the sea and marina, facing the city and the two remaining mountain peaks, along with the rosewood forests.

The highest peak with an altitude of nearly 400 m is the place where you can clearly see the whole view of the coastal city. At night, the view of Nha Trang city from Co Tien mountain is likened by locals to a "fire phoenix" flying in the night.

Mr. An recommends that in the summer, there is a lot of dry grass, so people should not light camping fires to avoid causing forest fires. "Camping involving firewood is unavoidable, but personally, I do not support cooking on Co Tien Mountain," Mr. An said.

In addition, before climbing the mountain, visitors need to fully prepare accessories , avoid breaking trees along the way to make climbing sticks, or firewood for cooking. Mr. An advises visitors to climb the mountain should only bring drinking water and snacks. For those who want to stay overnight, they should also note that the mountain area often has vipers and dry grass, so the potential for fire is very high.

According to a representative of Vinh Hoa Ward People's Committee, most of the people climbing Co Tien Mountain are locals who come for exercise, explore and return during the day, some organize overnight camping.

Activities in the Co Tien mountain area are spontaneous, there are no tours or tourist routes, and no licensed services. The locality is studying measures to ensure safety for climbers of Co Tien mountain, Nha Trang city, especially at night.
