Three people in critical condition due to alcohol poisoning

Kien Giang: A group of construction workers organized a drinking party after completing the project. Three people had foaming at the mouth, purple hands and feet, respiratory failure, and were hospitalized in critical condition.

On the morning of August 20, a group of about 10 workers organized a drinking party. Later that afternoon, three people were hospitalized with symptoms of methanol poisoning, also known as industrial alcohol. The health of the remaining people is currently unknown.

Specialist Doctor II Duong Phuoc Dong, Head of the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department, Kien Giang General Hospital, said all three patients were in critical condition, required ventilators, were in deep coma, had blood pressure buildup, and had a poor prognosis. The treatment was also hampered as the hospital was lacking biological products and equipment.

"The family doesn't know how much alcohol they drank, they just know it was a lot," said Dr. Dong.

Late last year, the hospital also admitted 14 people with alcohol poisoning at a funeral, three of whom died later.
