TPO - The La Khe canal project of the Yen Nghia pumping station (Ha Dong district, Hanoi) cannot be implemented due to the land issues of more than 200 households. The project's slow implementation has caused the project area to turn into a giant garbage dump, affecting the lives of people around here.

The project to improve the drainage system in the western area of Hanoi in Ha Dong district (including the construction of the Yen Nghia drainage pumping station and the hardening of La Khe canal to bring water to the suction tank) has a total area requiring site clearance of 30.7 hectares, after review, 29.15 hectares need to be cleared. The project's goal is to help drain more than 6,000 hectares of agricultural land , support drainage for Ha Dong district, Hoai Duc district, Dan Phuong district and part of Nam Tu Liem district.

The La Khe canal project (length 5,327m) combined with traffic roads on both sides of the canal (located in Ha Dong district) started construction in December 2019 and is still unfinished.

Due to the slow progress of some sections of the La Khe canal, contractors have not been able to synchronously construct the traffic routes on both sides of the canal. This has been affecting the living environment and travel of people living on both sides of the canal.

The reason is that the People's Committee of Ha Dong district has not yet handed over the site for project construction. The remaining area that has not been cleared is 0.81ha of 221 households and individuals in 4 wards: Quang Trung, Yet Kieu, La Khe, Duong Noi

At the construction site, it is possible to see household waste and construction waste dumped haphazardly at the project, causing environmental pollution.

The construction road has not been paved yet, causing dust day and night.

A representative of the Management and Maintenance Board of Agricultural and Rural Works (Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that wherever the site is available, the investor will immediately direct the contractor to start construction. "The management board is looking forward to receiving the site soon to concentrate human resources to implement the project along the entire route," the board representative shared.

Regarding Ha Dong district, the People's Committee is focusing on resolving petitions and complaints from citizens related to compensation and project support.

At the same time, the People's Committee of Ha Dong district is proposing to the City People's Committee to allow the application of a number of mechanisms and policies related to site clearance work.
