Vietnamese badminton has 4 representatives in the quarterfinals of Vietnam Open 2025, but only Nguyen Thuy Linh has the right to continue.
In the women's singles quarterfinals, Thuy Linh will face Nithiitikrai (Thailand). This is considered a favorable match as Thuy Linh is ranked 18th in the world , while her opponent is ranked 80th.
She easily won 21-10 in set 1 but then faltered and lost 13-21 in set 2.
In set 3, Nithiitikrai was exhausted but the Vietnamese player could not play easily. Thuy Linh continued to have difficulties with inaccurate shots.
There was a time when Thuy Linh led 10-5, but her opponent gradually closed in with the score 15-18, 17-19. There were many situations where the number 1 female tennis player of Vietnam was indecisive and Nithiitikrai just waited to counterattack and score points.
In the end, Thuy Linh also struggled to defeat the Thai player, winning a close 21-18 victory in set 3.
Before the women's singles match, Hai Dang entered the men's singles quarterfinals despite trying to drag the match into a third set.
The tournament's No. 7 seed still could not defeat Wang Zijun (China, ranked 159) when he lost 16-21, 21-15, 18-21.
The men's pair of Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh also had to give in despite holding on to the match until set 3 but could not successfully make a comeback when they lost 1-2 (17-21, 21-15, 21-11). However, the achievement of reaching the quarterfinals of this duo also left an impression and a special milestone for the Vietnamese men's team in the history of the tournament.
