In line with the cultural flow of the nation, the province still preserves and conserves a diverse system of historical-cultural relics with 3,562 relics. Of which, 6 relic sites are ranked as special national relics; 284 relics and relic clusters are ranked nationally; 885 relics and relic clusters are ranked at the provincial level; 10 artifacts and groups of artifacts are recognized as national treasures; 29 cultural heritages are included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages... Famous relics include: Pho Hien Special National Relic Site; An Xa Temple Special National Relic Site; Thai Lac Pagoda Special National Relic Site; Keo Pagoda Special National Relic Site; Special National Relic Site of the Tombs and Temples of the Tran Dynasty Kings...
The province is also the cradle of many special cultural and historical values. This land is famous for its tradition of studiousness, mandarinism and revolution. Historically, the province has produced many generals and national heroes such as Trieu Quang Phuc, Pham Ngu Lao, Nguyen Thien Thuat, Hoang Hoa Tham; political activists, staunch communist soldiers such as To Hieu, Le Van Luong, Nguyen Duc Canh... Hung Yen is also a land with a tradition of studiousness, with many famous people recorded in history books and respected by the people, such as Le Quy Don, Nguyen Trung Ngan, Doan Thi Diem, Chu Manh Trinh, Duong Quang Ham; famous physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac; writer Vu Trong Phung, Nguyen Cong Hoan... The province is honored to be the maternal hometown of Uncle Ho, the hometown of General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh, the steadfast and creative leader of the Party.
With a long-standing and rich cultural tradition, the people in the province have embraced the spirit of the Party's resolutions and quickly turned them into revolutionary actions. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" has contributed to creating new value systems, aiming at the goal of building and fostering the qualities of Hung Yen people in the new era. The work of political education, ideology, ethics, lifestyle, cultural behavior, building a civilized lifestyle... has been paid attention to by Party committees and authorities from the province to the grassroots. In particular, implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the Politburo on "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" has become a large and vibrant emulation movement in many agencies, units and localities. The movements of “Good people, good deeds”, “Building cultural families”, “Building cultural agencies, units and enterprises”, “Movement to encourage learning and talent”… have created a good environment for the “cultural seeds” in each person and each family to flourish, develop and become typical examples spreading in the community. Along with that, doing a good job of preserving and promoting cultural heritage values has created a driving force for Hung Yen tourism to develop, contributing directly to the provincial economy . In addition to tourism products such as: Spiritual cultural tourism, festival tourism, traditional craft villages, the province is investing in developing eco-tourism, experiences, and beach resorts thanks to its 54km coastline with natural sandbanks, mangrove forest systems, and diverse nature reserves.
The province is entering a new stage of development, in order for culture to truly become an endogenous driving force for socio-economic development, in the coming time, Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the people need to identify the development of Hung Yen culture and people as a key, strategic, regular and continuous task, which must be placed on par with politics and economics; promote propaganda, dissemination, thorough understanding, serious and effective implementation of Ho Chi Minh's thought and the Party's policies and guidelines on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people in the new period; pay attention to restoring, preserving and promoting the values of traditional cultural heritage associated with tourism development; strengthen the introduction, promotion and dissemination of the image and good values of Hung Yen culture and people to the world; mobilize investment resources for the cause of cultural development; Prioritize the development of a number of advantageous cultural industries such as: cultural tourism, performing arts, handicraft villages, traditional cuisine; take care of developing, training, and fostering a team of artists and replicating grassroots art club models; strengthen international cooperation on culture, learn from heritage promotion models of other countries, mobilize resources from international organizations for heritage conservation projects, cultural exchanges...
