In the latest rankings announced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), tennis player Thuy Linh has risen one place to 17th in the world. The Vietnamese female tennis player has 48,630 points, taking the position of Ongbamrungphan Busanan (Thailand).

This is the highest ranking in the career of the “hot girl” of the Vietnamese badminton world. She is also the only Vietnamese female tennis player to be in the world top 100 at this time. Meanwhile, the former number 1 tennis player of Vietnam, Vu Thi Trang, dropped 7 more places, from 131st to 138th, with 12,430 points.
However, Thuy Linh is only 800 points ahead of Thailand's Busanan and is quite far behind No. 16 Li Michelle (54,470 points). Therefore, she needs to make more efforts to be able to climb higher on the BWF rankings.
Before Thuy Linh, prominent players such as Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung and Vu Thi Trang had made their mark in the international arena but none of them had entered the world top 20. Therefore, Thuy Linh’s rise opened a new chapter for Vietnamese badminton.

At the Vietnam Open 2025 international badminton tournament that just ended in Ho Chi Minh City, Thuy Linh reached the final. Unfortunately, she only won the runner-up position after losing to Cai Yanyan (China) in the final match.
Recently, at the Super 750 - China Master tournament, tennis player Thuy Linh gave up in the second set of her match with world number 15 Yeo Jia Min (Singapore).
Sharing on her personal page, Thuy Linh apologized to her fans: "I sincerely apologize to everyone. Today's result is something Linh or any athlete does not want. I myself never want to see a "quit" line in my competition history.
I also went out on the field and tried my best, but my feet and ankles have been very painful for the past few days, making it impossible for me to move normally. Before the match, Linh also consulted a doctor and was warned that if not careful, he could get a more serious injury, even a torn ligament.
