On the afternoon of September 14, tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh lost to Cai Yanyan (China) in the final of Vietnam Open 2025, thereby being unable to defend the championship.

This was originally predicted to be an extremely difficult match for Thuy Linh. She is ranked 18th in the world , while her opponent is outside the top 100.

But the fact is that Cai Yanyan fell so badly in the rankings because of a 3-year break due to a ligament injury. After returning, she could not regain her previous form. Before that, Cai Yanyan was one of the brightest talents of Chinese badminton and had risen to 14th in the world.

Entering the final match of Vietnam Open, Cai Yanyan quickly showed that she had more perfect skills and techniques than Thuy Linh. Her shots were difficult, making the Vietnamese badminton hot girl somewhat confused. Cai Yanyan quickly took the lead with a difference of 14-6 in set 1.

But in set 2, Thuy Linh gradually played more fiercely and passionately. She boldly pressed, creating difficult shots to take the lead 7-3. Cai Yanyan also clearly lost strength, making many regrettable mistakes.

However, with her class, the Chinese player fought back in time. After many attempts to catch up, she successfully equalized 18-18 and brought the second set into a tense tug-of-war.

After being saved from championship-point twice by Thuy Linh, Cai Yanyan remained calm to win a thrilling 23-21 victory and become the champion.

Unfortunately losing, Vietnam's "badminton hot girl" could not win the Vietnam Open for the 4th consecutive time.
