Editor-in-Chief of the Lao Dong Newspaper, To Dinh Tuan, informed that after 6 seasons, the "Listening to people's suggestions" contest has attracted hundreds of authors and works from within and outside the country to participate.
At the 6th time, many excellent suggestions were made on developing a system of water storage parks to prevent flooding, expanding the metro and electric bus networks, reorganizing traffic schedules to reduce congestion; as well as suggestions on restructuring the city's space, promoting advantages after the merger...
On this occasion, the Lao Dong Newspaper also launched the 7th "Listening to people's suggestions" contest with the theme "To make Ho Chi Minh City a modern, green, smart regional megacity".
* Also on the morning of September 11, the Lao Dong Newspaper organized a talk show called “Breakthrough traffic for the megacity of Ho Chi Minh City”. Speakers proposed traffic solutions for Ho Chi Minh City after the merger.
According to Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction Bui Hoa An, after more than 2 months of consolidation, the expanded urban traffic picture still faces many challenges. New congestion hotspots have appeared, but the biggest "bottleneck" that needs to be resolved immediately is the interconnection between the three regional plans.

Mr. Bui Hoa An said that before and after the merger, the traffic bottlenecks of Ho Chi Minh City have hardly changed. The problem is to harmonize planning, create convenient and fast traffic flow, and better serve the travel and living needs of the people. In the coming time, the orientation is to develop large-capacity transport modes such as metro and bus.
Looking at the current traffic congestion situation at the gateways of Ho Chi Minh City, PhD student Tran Quang Hoa, Institute of Management & Innovation Zug - Switzerland, said that after the merger, traffic pressure in Ho Chi Minh City increased, especially National Highway 13, Binh Trieu Bridge, An Phu intersection... Traffic congestion can cause waste and damage of up to 6 billion USD.
According to research data, the average speed of movement is 36km/h and slower at the southern gateways (25km/h) which still has a lot of room for development. To deal with this problem, Mr. Tran Quang Hoa said that two bottlenecks can be solved: infrastructure and a stronger inter-border connection system.
