More than 1,000 Vietnamese students are studying in Hungary.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary said that there are currently more than 1,000 Vietnamese students studying and researching in Hungary. The Vietnamese student community actively participates in student community activities, supporting and helping each other.
Vietnam and Hungary established diplomatic relations in 1950. Over the past 75 years, this relationship has grown stronger and stronger on the basis of mutual respect and achieved many good results in many fields, from economy, culture, to education.
As in the field of education , the Hungarian Government Scholarship Program for Vietnamese students, implemented since 2013, has contributed to promoting the relationship between the two countries. In recent years, each year, this scholarship has awarded 200 scholarships to Vietnamese PhD, Master and Bachelor students so that they can contribute more to their countries in the future.

Vietnamese female student wins Hungarian Government scholarship
On the sidelines of the conference of the Vietnamese Women's Forum in Europe recently held in Budapest, we happened to meet many Vietnamese students studying in Hungary.
KT, 19 years old, a female international student studying first year of business data analysis at the University of Debrecen, Debrecen City, Hungary, said she came to Hungary with a scholarship from the Hungarian Government. The University of Debrecen is one of the most famous universities, this public school is now more than 480 years old (founded in 1538).
One of the requirements to apply for this scholarship is that the candidate must pass and complete the first year of a public university in Vietnam, with good academic results. In Vietnam, KT is a former student of Kim Lien High School, Hanoi and completed the first year at the National Economics University.
What is your experience studying at Debrecen University like, how to adapt well in an international learning environment? KT said that your study program at Debrecen University is taught in English, and the class is full of international students from many countries. In addition to preparing a good foundation in English, students must have a solid grasp of basic subjects such as mathematics from high school in Vietnam as well as general subjects during the first year of university study in Vietnam. With the major of business data analysis, the study program covers both business and economic knowledge as well as information technology and data analysis knowledge. Studying solidly and firmly in basic subjects from high school will greatly support KT when she goes to Hungary to study.
In particular, learning Hungarian well is a condition for students to be able to keep their scholarship and have many advantages during their stay in this country. All students studying abroad with the Hungarian Government Scholarship Program are required to take two basic Hungarian language courses. If they fail these two courses, they will not be allowed to retake the exam, and their scholarship will be terminated and they will be forced to return home.

According to KT, the learning environment at Debrecen University, the living environment in Debrecen City in particular and Hungary in general are friendly and peaceful. The school always creates conditions to support and help students, has a specialized room to support and solve students' difficulties. In particular, international students receiving Hungarian Government scholarships can also participate in exchange activities with students in other cities in this country (free of charge) or other countries in Europe, the school covers almost all of it, students only pay a very small fee.
"To balance life and study, reduce the pressure of studying and living in a foreign country, international students should maintain connections with relatives and family; connect with new friends, participate in school-organized activities, and interact with the student community to better understand the local culture and other countries," shared a Vietnamese female international student in Hungary.

"I learned about the learning and living environment in Hungary with many advantages, so I chose this country to study. Besides, I have known many people who have studied and worked in Hungary and have had certain success, so I was determined to come here," Manh Quan said.
The mechanical engineering program will last for 3.5 years. In addition to studying, Quan works 2 days a week at restaurants in Budapest to cover living expenses. Quan said that this part-time job also helps students gain more experience, life skills, and understand more about local life to integrate well.
