Central wards urgently overcome the consequences of storms and floods
The clean-up was carried out urgently in many residential areas in the three wards: Thuc Phan, Nung Tri Cao and Tan Giang. As soon as the water began to recede, many households swept away the mud, washed tables, chairs and utensils soaked in water. Mr. Hoang Viet Anh, Thuc Phan ward shared: The water flooded into the house, now luckily it has receded, we all immediately started cleaning up to soon stabilize our lives.
In the neighborhoods, households scooped up mud and cleaned the streets and alleys; people cleaned and encouraged each other to overcome difficulties, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and neighborhood bond.
Police, army, youth union and residential groups quickly supported people in collecting garbage, clearing sewers, cleaning schools and medical stations, ensuring a clean and safe environment before students returned to class. In particular, traffic police were reinforced at intersections, supporting and coordinating people and vehicles to travel safely through roads where the water had just receded and the road surface was still slippery.
However, in some riverside areas and low-lying areas of wards, the water is still deep, many households cannot return home. Local authorities and rescue forces continue to maintain 24/7 duty, support evacuation, provide necessities, ensure safety of people's lives and property. At the same time, continuously count the damage, deploy support plans for severely affected households; advise people to pay attention to treating domestic water sources, spraying disinfectants, and preventing epidemics after floods.
In Bao Lam commune, immediately after the heavy and prolonged rains ended, the Party Committee and the commune government mobilized over 100 people from the police force, militia, youth union members and local people to urgently clean up, level mud and soil, and clear the flow, helping people to stabilize their lives soon. The urgent atmosphere and spirit of solidarity were evident on every road and every affected house. Although still tired after many days of fighting the storm, everyone made efforts with the spirit of not letting people be isolated and not letting roads be cut off for long.
Along with the clearing of roads, environmental sanitation is given special attention. Flooded areas, drainage ditches, and sewers are dredged and treated to avoid stagnation and outbreak of epidemics after the storm. Schools and medical stations are also given priority for cleaning and ensuring safety to welcome students back to class soon and stabilize health care activities for the people.
