Caught 'cosmetic expert' at illegal medical examination and treatment seminar

Ho Chi Minh City authorities suddenly inspected an illegal anti-aging seminar and discovered a speaker claiming to be a cosmetic expert with the nickname "Mr. Lee".

On January 28, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong said that the inspection team recorded two foreigners of Korean nationality, Ms. Hoang Huyen, Mr. Truong Thanh Tinh (nickname Mr. Lee), more than 50 guests and event organizers participating in the seminar. According to the program's promotional image, a Korean person shared the Mint Lift face-lifting thread technology and Mr. Lee shared the Mint thread chin-lifting thread technique.

The representative of the event organizer could not provide documents and files related to the seminar as well as legal documents related to the filler products and medical equipment displayed and introduced here.

The inspection team temporarily seized 11 types of medical equipment and filler boxes, and more than 400 product introduction leaflets. The conference organizer was asked to stop introducing content related to cosmetic medical examination and treatment and products without legal documents as prescribed.

Authorities continue to verify and handle violations related to the organization of illegal medical examination and treatment seminars.

Mr. Truong Thanh Tinh was fined 115 million VND and had his Mr. Lee clinic in Thu Duc City suspended for unlicensed medical treatment in October 2023. After that, the facility still arbitrarily opened the sealed shelves, performed nose lifts, and illegally injected fillers on customers, and was fined another 30 million VND in November last year.

Despite not having a practicing certificate, Mr. Tinh is widely known on TikTok, Facebook, and Youtube as "Mr. Lee", specializing in cosmetic surgery. This person claims to be close to many cosmetic surgeons in Korea, claiming that "99% of cosmetic clinics in Vietnam do not have degrees, do not have enough licenses and conditions to perform surgery, and are all operating illegally."
