Quit factory director position, return to hometown to farm chickens

Leaving behind his position as factory director of Lilama 69-3 Joint Stock Company, Mr. Pham Dinh Chinh (born in 1979), in Khuong Phu village, Yet Kieu commune, Gia Loc district (Hai Duong) returned to his hometown and started a business raising chickens.

Graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, majoring in mechanical engineering, Mr. Chinh worked at Lilama 69-3 Joint Stock Company. With the enthusiasm of youth, he volunteered to travel across the country, participating in installing machines for many projects everywhere such as Phuc Son Cement Joint Stock Company, stone crushing stations in Son La... During his work, with his passion for creativity, he researched and came up with many new initiatives to contribute to improving the environment, working conditions, and increasing labor productivity... With his contributions to the company, after 4 years of working, Mr. Chinh was promoted to team leader.

The months away from home working on construction projects helped Mr. Chinh gain more knowledge and work experience. With his hard-working nature, constant creativity, and work for the company, he was quickly appointed as Director of Kinh Mon Shipbuilding Equipment Manufacturing Factory in 2011. A year later, Mr. Chinh was transferred to work as Director of Lilama Equipment Manufacturing Factory in Quang Phuc Commune (Tu Ky). Mr. Chinh still devoted himself to his work. However, the job required him to be away from home frequently, which greatly affected his health. Therefore, Mr. Chinh quit his job at the factory to return home to find a more suitable job.

Passion for traditional crafts

Mr. Chinh has applied some new techniques to livestock farming to help improve economic efficiency.

Mr. Chinh's family has a tradition of poultry hatching, so he was determined to invest. After many days of searching and persuading people, he gathered 7,000 ^square meters of land to build barns and an incubator in the Khuong Phu village conversion area.

In Yet Kieu commune, people have two ways to hatch chickens. That is, buy eggs on the market, put them in an incubator, and build a farm to raise laying hens for hatching. Mr. Chinh chose to build a farm to raise laying hens for hatching. He invested more than 5 billion VND to build more than 1,000 ^{m2 of} laying hen coops. Depending on the needs of customers, each batch, Mr. Chinh raises a different type of chicken. Currently, he is raising 15,000 fighting and crossbred chickens, of which 4,000 are hens for exploitation, the rest are chicks and reserve chickens. Mr. Chinh said: "Each hen can only be exploited for 6-8 months before having to be replaced. Therefore, the farm must always prepare reserve chickens or else it will miss out on supplying the market."

Mr. Chinh also invested more than 500 million VND to buy 7 incubators and hatchers. When the eggs are about to hatch, he will switch to the hatcher to conveniently observe the chickens. Each month, his family supplies the market with about 40,000 chickens. The chickens are sold all over the country.

To develop a large-scale livestock model, in addition to the accumulated experience, Mr. Chinh also proactively learned more through books and newspapers, and visited many farms. That valuable knowledge has greatly supported him in the production process. He invested in an automatic chicken feeding and cleaning system, helping to save time and labor. In addition, he also applied artificial insemination techniques to increase reproductive efficiency and improve egg quality. The barn is designed to suit each season, ensuring warmth in winter and coolness in summer. The chickens are fully vaccinated to minimize the risk of disease.

Evaluating the livestock model of Mr. Chinh's family, Mr. Vu Huu Oanh, Director of Yet Kieu Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative, said that this is a typical model of the locality due to the scale and number of chicks supplied to the market. Mr. Chinh is active in activities, contributing to and building the locality.

Every year, the livestock model brings Mr. Chinh billions of dong in revenue. Although the poultry market is slowing down, he still persists in his profession because all his capital and expectations have been placed on the farm.
