On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mexico, the Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam organized the exhibition “Hola - Hello” introducing the works of two artists Rubén Gutiérrez and Aarón Eivet.

The exhibition takes place from September 12 to October 12 at Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), Hanoi .

According to Mexican Ambassador to Vietnam Alejandro Negrín, the exhibition includes works created specifically for the Vietnamese public.

“Along with the cultural events we have organized this year, this exhibition contributes to bringing the Vietnamese public closer to the endless diversity and richness of Mexican art and culture. This is a great way to continue celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Vietnam,” the Ambassador said.

The exhibition features large-scale murals, installations, videos , paintings, photographs and silkscreen prints that are imbued with urban art and are also connected to ancient civilizations and popular culture of Mexico.

Rubén Gutiérrez and Aarón Eivet are two prominent artists of Mexican contemporary art.

Gutiérrez’s artistic practice spans cinema, photography, painting and literature, with themes such as memory, resistance and the construction of imaginary worlds. His work combines the private and the collective, opening up spaces that represent shelter and resilience in the face of social crisis.

Meanwhile, Aarón Eivet experiments with everyday images and objects, using elements from Mexican popular culture to reshape them into graphic art or sculptural structures. His work exploits the fragility and aesthetic power of these elements, evoking narratives that are tied to collective, social and emotional memories.

With their unique creations, both artists represent the vitality and innovation of contemporary art in Monterrey - an industrial and integrated city located in Northern Mexico, near the United States, known as a center of bold artistic creations and experimentation across many art forms.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the two artists will have a rich program of activities, including talks with students, silk-screen printing workshops and meetings with young Vietnamese artists.

Sharing his feelings, artist Rubén Gutiérrez said: “This exhibition is a symbolic bridge, opening a dialogue between two great countries like Mexico and Vietnam - with their own history and emotions, but both shaped by the process of resistance and memory throughout history. This also lays the foundation for future contemporary artistic exchanges, contributing to strengthening the connection between the two regions.”

Ms. Nguyen Tra My, Director of Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), expressed her honor to accompany the Mexican Embassy to introduce this meaningful exhibition to the public.

“VCCA always wants to connect artists with the community, works with beauty lovers, Vietnamese art with world art,” said Ms. Nguyen Tra My./.

The exhibition opening ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on September 16 (in celebration of Mexico's National Day) at the Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), B1-R3 Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72A Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan Ward, Hanoi.
