HTIT Port (Hai Phong Port) successfully received the largest container ship ever to dock at Lach Huyen deep-water port cluster.

On the morning of September 23, 2025, Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HTIT) - a member port of the Hai Phong Port system successfully received the MSC KALINA container ship of MSC shipping line. This is the largest container ship ever to dock at Lach Huyen deep-water port cluster, marking an important step forward in the exploitation capacity and affirming the position of HTIT Port on the international maritime map.

MSC KALINA is a Panamanian vessel with impressive parameters: Overall length 366.06 m, draft when docking 12.2 m, total tonnage 162,867 DWT. This is a large amount of work, requiring synchronous coordination between operating forces, equipment and port infrastructure.

The fact that MSC – one of the world’s leading container shipping lines – brings a large mothership like MSC KALINA to HTIT shows its confidence in the port’s infrastructure and operating capacity. From the depth of the shipping channel, wharf, container yard, to the equipment system and human resources, all meet the highest technical requirements, ready for international shipping routes.

The event is of great significance both technically and economically . In terms of expertise, HTIT has demonstrated its ability to safely receive and operate large mother ships, meeting international standards in wharf arrangement, towing, container handling and ensuring maritime safety. In terms of economics and trade, the ship carrying thousands of TEUs not only increases the volume of goods passing through the port, creating a large source of revenue for loading, unloading, storage and transportation services, but also promotes the regional logistics ecosystem, from transportation, warehousing, customs services to shipping agents.
