Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common infectious disease in children, spreading quickly through the digestive tract, especially in crowded places such as schools, kindergartens, and residential areas. The disease can become severe and leave dangerous complications if not detected early and treated promptly.

Faced with the risk of an outbreak, the provincial health sector has proactively implemented synchronous solutions to prevent and control hand, foot and mouth disease , focusing on: Closely monitoring cases in the community and schools; Early detection for timely isolation and proper treatment; Close coordination with the education sector to prevent the spread of the disease in schools.

Mr. Dang Van Sanh, Deputy Head of Ly Van Lam Ward Health Station, said: “The health station has strengthened measures to prevent and control hand, foot and mouth disease in the community, paying attention to households with young children. For schools, Cloramin B has been distributed and teachers have been instructed to clean utensils, toys and classrooms. In the last months of the year, the health station will continue to closely monitor the epidemic situation in schools and in the community to detect cases early, handle the epidemic promptly, and prevent it from spreading.”

At Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School (Ly Van Lam Ward), epidemic prevention work was activated at the beginning of the school year. Accordingly, medical staff coordinated with homeroom teachers and the ward health station in propaganda, checking students' health and promptly handling suspected cases. "During the learning process, if students are found to have hand, foot and mouth disease, they will be isolated to prevent the disease from spreading to other children, and at the same time coordinate with medical staff to handle the epidemic," said Mr. Ngo Phuong Duy, medical staff at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School.

Although the health sector has implemented many measures, there are still many difficulties in disease prevention, the most worrying of which is the subjectivity of some parents. Many families have not properly implemented disease prevention measures at home; some residential areas have not maintained regular environmental hygiene, causing a high risk of spreading pathogens.

To proactively respond to the risk of hand, foot and mouth disease outbreaks, especially in the last months of the year, the Provincial Center for Disease Control recommends that each person, each family and community proactively implement disease prevention measures such as: Washing hands with soap regularly (before eating, after using the toilet); Cleaning toys, utensils, floors, and classrooms with Cloramin B; Monitoring children's health every day to promptly detect signs such as fever, rash, mouth ulcers; Isolate sick children for 7-10 days, disinfect contact areas; Immediately notify medical facilities when there are signs of suspected disease.

Currently, hand, foot and mouth disease in the province is showing signs of increasing and the risk of an outbreak in the last months of the year is very high. To protect children's health, close coordination between the health sector, the education sector and each family is needed.

The Provincial Center for Disease Control continues to promote propaganda work on media, social networks, and leaflets to further raise people's awareness in preventing and fighting hand, foot, and mouth disease.
