• Positioning Ca Mau tourism brand in the overall national tourism
  • New power for sustainable tourism development
  • Exploiting potential, elevating tourism

Reporters of Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio and Television had an interview with Ms. Pham Thi Khanh, Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association, President of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association about this event.

- Looking at the success of the series of activities responding to World Tourism Day, how do you evaluate the determination and efforts of Ca Mau tourism?

Ms. Pham Thi Khanh: First of all, it must be admitted that most Vietnamese people have affection and desire to visit the southernmost land of the Fatherland at least once. In recent years, the leaders of Ca Mau province have paid attention and oriented the tourism development strategy, creating a strong driving force for Ca Mau tourism to take off.

Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association and Ms. Pham Thi Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Association, watched the Talented Chef Competition "Quintessence of Ca Mau Culinary Culture".

With the role of almost the tourism center of the whole country, Ho Chi Minh City always accompanies the localities. Ca Mau tourism potential is very large, so when the province organized a series of activities in response to World Tourism Day, the Vietnam Tourism Association and Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association quickly joined in, although the preparation time was very short. We coordinated with the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau to implement the following contents: information, program development, sending Famtrip delegations to survey destinations, mobilizing businesses to participate in seminars, promoting cuisine and selecting professional chefs to participate in the "Talented Chef" contest.

In less than 2 weeks, many activities have been completed. This demonstrates the determination and drastic actions of the leaders of Ca Mau province, and at the same time affirms the solidarity and companionship of the Vietnam Tourism Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association in promoting the development of Ca Mau tourism.

- Developing tourism from culinary culture will be a breakthrough direction for Ca Mau, madam?

Ms. Pham Thi Khanh: Ca Mau's diverse ecosystem offers many typical products, which when processed create delicious and attractive dishes, expressing the quintessence of local cuisine and contributing to the Vietnamese culinary treasure.

In particular, Ca Mau crab is not only famous domestically but also known worldwide for its high nutritional content. Thanks to the creativity of chefs, many new dishes have been created from crabs raised in Ca Mau such as crab sticky rice, crab curry, crab meatballs, etc. in addition to traditional dishes. I believe that Ca Mau cuisine will increasingly spread, making Ca Mau an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists.

- Can you evaluate the internal strength and great advantages of Ca Mau tourism after the merger?

Ms. Pham Thi Khanh: The merger of the two localities has multiplied their internal strength, making tourism more abundant and diverse, increasing the connection between destinations, and extending the length of stay of tourists. The old Bac Lieu with its good infrastructure, combined with the diverse cultural identity and forest-sea ecosystem of the old Ca Mau, will create attractive tours and tourist routes.

Provincial leaders visited the OCOP product display at the workshop "Positioning Ca Mau tourism brand in the overall national tourism".

- So for Ca Mau tourism to really take off, what aspects does the province need to focus on developing, madam?

Ms. Pham Thi Khanh: First of all, human resources must be focused on, because in the new development stage, jobs from explanation, table service, housekeeping, room service to ancillary services all require professionalism.

In addition, transport infrastructure, one of the long-standing "bottlenecks", has been given attention to be resolved. Key projects such as the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, the route connecting Dat Mui with Hon Khoai Port , the upgrade of Ca Mau Airport and the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway will shorten travel time, contributing to promoting tourism development and related economic sectors.

Thank you!
