South Korean police enter the residence to arrest President Yoon Suk Yeol

Hundreds of South Korean police and investigators entered the residence of President Yoon Suk Yeol early this morning (January 15), carrying out a second attempt to arrest the leader who was impeached for declaring martial law last month.

A large number of police and investigators entered the main gate of President Yoon Suk Yeol's residence on the morning of January 15.

Acting President Choi Sang-mok announced that the arrest warrant for the impeached president has been executed, adding that this is a crucial moment to maintain order and the rule of law in South Korea.

After clashing with security forces blocking the main gate, police used ladders to enter President Yoon Suk Yeol's residence, according to AFP.

Yonhap also reported a clash between security guards and police, with scuffles breaking out between the two sides.

Television footage later showed about 20 people believed to be investigators and police using ladders to climb over the fence to enter the presidential residence.

Once inside, they passed through a "second barrier" of buses lined up to block the road. At least one person was injured in the clash.

Mr. Yoon's lawyers could be seen standing in front of the mansion gates, protesting the arrest warrant.
