13-year-old boy with cancer was specially recruited by Mr. Trump to be a Secret Service agent

Young DJ Daniel, who has cancer, was recently made an honorary member of the US Secret Service by US President Donald Trump, when he made his first speech to Congress in his second term.

Boy DJ Daniel was made an honorary employee of the US Secret Service.

Speaking before the US Congress on March 5 (Vietnam time), US President Donald Trump told the story of a 13-year-old boy with cancer who "always dreamed of becoming a police officer", then directed the Secret Service to hire this boy as an employee.

According to Mr. Trump, in 2018, the boy Devarjaye J. Daniel (abbreviated as DJ) was diagnosed with brain cancer and doctors said he would only live for 5 more months at most.

"That was over six years ago. Since then, DJ and his dad have been pursuing a plan to make his dream come true. And DJ has been sworn in as an honorary police officer, in fact, multiple times. Police departments love him," Trump said, according to CNN.

He instructed Secret Service Director Sean Curran to make the boy a Secret Service agent. "Tonight, DJ, we are going to give you the greatest honor of all. I am asking our new Secret Service Director, Sean Curran, to officially make him a member of the United States Secret Service. Thank you, DJ," Trump said.

Mr Curran immediately presented the boy with a badge, while MPs chanted "DJ" in congratulations.

A moment later, Mr. Trump also told the story of high school student Jason Hartley, who wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and study at the US Military Academy at West Point (New York).

The president surprised the student by announcing that his application for admission had been accepted.

"Jason's father, grandfather and great-grandfather all wore uniforms. Jason lost his father, who was also a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, when he was young, and now he wants to continue his family's service," Mr. Trump said.
