Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction is bustling at the beginning of the new year

After the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project packages have resumed operations with dozens of excavators, bulldozers, and road rollers.

On February 5, according to Giao Thong Newspaper's reporter, at the XL-01 package constructing the Rach Mieu 2 bridge approach road on the Tien Giang side, there were about 50 technical staff and workers working with enthusiasm.

The sounds of excavators, road rollers, water trucks, etc. resounding at the construction site create a vibrant and fierce atmosphere right from the first days of the year.

Along the route, contractors have gathered tens of thousands of cubic meters of stone at many points to prepare for the construction of the crushed stone layer. Many officers, engineers, and workers are urgently checking the construction items to ensure technical and labor safety.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, the construction supervisor of the XL-01 package road surface, said that the project has mobilized 6 road rollers, excavators, dump trucks, etc., along with 50 technical staff and workers.

According to Mr. Nam, during the Tet holiday, this package still maintains working teams to ensure traffic safety and maintain the road surface. After the long Tet holiday, from February 3 (the 6th day of Tet), more than 50% of technical staff and workers have returned to work.

For the past two days, the unit has focused on rolling the road surface, constructing the third layer of crushed stone, and preparing to cover half of the road surface with asphalt concrete, about 1km long. This package has so far achieved over 60% of the work progress.

While constructing crushed stone, Mr. Le Huu Phuoc, a worker of package Xl-01, said that after Tet, everyone returned to work with a happy spirit, enthusiastic about their work, and determined to complete the project on schedule.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Phong, Director of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project Management Board, said that the construction packages have resumed since the 6th day of Tet. However, some workers from far away places such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh ... have not arrived yet, so the construction site is not 100% full, and will have to wait until the 10th day to have enough workers.

During the construction of the road leading to Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, the contractor regularly watered to suppress dust and ensure environmental sanitation.

According to Mr. Phong, the progress of the Rach Mieu Bridge project has reached over 79%, 4% ahead of schedule. The main cable-stayed bridge Rach Mieu 2 is 24% ahead of schedule.

At the beginning of the year, My Thuan Project Management Board worked with contractors, all of whom are determined to complete the project according to the expected schedule: On April 30, the main Rach Mieu 2 bridge will be closed, in August 2025, the middle bridge will be closed , on September 2, the technical traffic will be opened, and before October 30, the main bridge and the entire project will be completed.

Currently, the project road has been constructed with crushed stone layer for 9/10km, and asphalt concrete layer in each segment for about 4km. The entire route including road and bridge on Ben Tre side will be completed before June 30.

The bridge section has completed four bridges (Xoai Hot, My Tho, Tam Son, Ba Lai), and two bridges are under construction (Rach Mieu 2 main bridge, Song Ma). Of which, Song Ma bridge will be completed before June 2025.

Workers are working hard after the Tet holiday.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge has completed 100% of the tower pier P19, P20. At the same time, the contractor has completed the K10 girder block (K10 has 13 blocks) at the cable-stayed piers P19, P20; has completed the SK11 girder block on the anchor piers P18, P21. The contractor has installed and tensioned 88/112 bundles of cable-stayed cables.

After the long Tet holiday, the contractor mobilized dozens of road rollers and excavators to the construction site.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is divided into 6 construction packages, started on March 28, 2022, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with a total investment of 6,810 billion VND.

The project's starting point is the intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870 in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province; the end point connects with National Highway 60 at the Ham Luong Bridge approach road in Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province.
