Hanoi CDC blocks fanpage comments because of female employee involved in 'stepmother abusing stepchild' case

The fanpage with 39,000 followers named "Hanoi Center for Disease Control" (CDC Hanoi) had to lock comments since last weekend.

Clips of a boy being abused by his stepmother from a family camera appeared frequently on social networks over the past two weekends.

In the latest post on the Hanoi CDC fanpage, there are up to 300 comments criticizing ethics and requesting strict punishment for Ms. T., a female CDC employee.

Ms. T. is the stepmother of a boy in Ha Dong (Hanoi), who wrote a letter denouncing abuse, causing a stir on social networks in recent days.

A series of comments expressing outrage forced the Hanoi CDC to lock the comment section on its fanpage.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on September 15, CDC leaders said they had received information through social media and Ms. T's report. In recent days, Ms. T. has often asked for leave to work with authorities.

According to the leader, Ms. T. belongs to the occupational disease department. At the agency, she did not violate regulations, completed her professional work, and actively participated in activities.

"The controversy on social media is regrettable. However, this is a personal matter, we are waiting for the conclusion of the authorities before deciding how to handle it," he said.

The Hanoi Department of Health , the governing body, said that according to regulations, the unit receiving the petition will directly accept and process it, and then it will be up to the governing body to handle it.

Hotline 111 said that over the weekend, they received many messages and calls related to the "heartfelt letter" of a boy calling for help while living with his stepmother, Mrs. T. After verifying, local authorities, police and child protection officers stepped in to protect the boy.
