Presenting a speech at the Forum on the Future of Science and Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology , Mr. Nguyen Dat - Deputy General Director of Viettel Group said that Viettel currently has more than 3,000 employees directly involved in researching and manufacturing high-tech products. To build this high-quality workforce, Viettel has formed a strategy with comprehensive solutions.

Firstly, Viettel sets out big problems to “attract” talent. “Viettel has built an application called “Difficult Task Warehouse” to solve complex problems. When there is a difficult task, we will put it on the application and we will utilize the resources of more than 7 billion people in the world to support us in solving the problem. In this way, we can use human resources and experts from all over the world, not just in Vietnam. Many members of research teams have joined Viettel and Viettel’s products are also based on the results from the application,” Mr. Dat shared.

Second, Viettel creates a mechanism for researchers to enjoy the fruits of their labor. “Viettel has a regulation for the department that conducts creative research activities in the organization. Accordingly, the author of the initiative or idea will receive up to 5% of the value of the product made.”

In addition, Viettel has its own salary mechanism. “Viettel’s salary fund depends on the increase in annual profits and labor productivity,” said Mr. Dat. Thus, the more the company’s revenue increases, the more benefits employees receive.

In addition to the practical benefits for talents, Viettel also creates conditions for research and international standard work for invited personnel. “Our point of view from the beginning is that we must also produce products with standards equivalent to the world. This requires us to have tools and labs that meet international standards. Viettel has invested heavily in such labs. Viettel has even invested in supercomputer systems that allow simulation to speed up the production process,” Mr. Dat shared. Typically, Viettel has invested in a simulation system when producing missiles. According to Viettel’s Deputy General Director, test-firing a missile will cost millions of USD. Thanks to applying this system, Viettel has saved a lot of money, shortened time and also saved a lot of accompanying costs.

Creating opportunities for talents to access research and new technology, thereby mastering technology and developing products suitable for domestic and foreign needs is also a way Viettel uses to retain them. For example, with 5G products, Viettel is cooperating with Qualcomm to take advantage of the group's knowledge of chip manufacturing.

Viettel's strategy of attracting talent is proving to be correct as Viettel now holds 260 patents, while strengthening the determination to master the core technology of the Defense Industry Group.
