The United States wants to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of space and new materials.

At the meeting, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper congratulated Permanent Deputy Minister Vu Hai Quan on his new position. At the same time, Ambassador Knapper affirmed the United States' commitment to maintaining and developing science and technology partnerships with Vietnam.

Ambassador Knapper emphasized that the United States is ready to support Vietnam in implementing tasks under the "four pillars" of the Breakthrough Resolution related to science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation. He also said that US businesses are capable of actively participating in priority technology areas stated in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW "On breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation". Specifically, Ambassador Knapper proposed cooperation with Vietnam in emerging technology areas, including essential mineral exploitation, new materials, nuclear energy and low-altitude satellite internet. In addition, the two sides can also expand cooperation in space research, as well as satellite applications to support disaster prevention and climate change response. In addition, the Ambassador said that the United States has conducted a detailed analysis of the content of Resolution 57 and is ready to share it with Vietnam.

On the Vietnamese side, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan expressed his appreciation for the US commitment. The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam is making efforts to perfect the legal system on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and asked the US Government and businesses to support Vietnam in the process of building and perfecting these legal frameworks.

Deputy Minister Quan also said that Vietnam is focusing on developing strategic technologies and building investment policies to create breakthroughs for domestic enterprises, as well as attract foreign investors to Vietnam. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of forming a high-quality workforce, fully equipped with skills to promote breakthrough development.

In the context of this cooperation, the Deputy Minister expressed his wish that the United States would share analytical reports on 11 strategic technologies that the US side has implemented.

The two sides agreed on the potential for deeper cooperation in the fields of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and expected that this cooperation would contribute to promoting socio-economic development. Deputy Minister Quan believed that the cooperation between the two sides would contribute to the common success of Vietnam in the context of international integration and strengthen the Vietnam-US partnership.
