Identifying forestry as an important economic sector, the province is promoting the call for many large-scale afforestation projects in this area.
Attracting many large-scale projects
In early 2025, Phu Vinh Gia Lai Agriculture and Forestry Company Limited was approved to invest in a production forest planting project in compartments 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of sub-compartment 205 in Ia Khuol commune. The project has a total investment capital of 14 billion VND on an area of over 190 hectares, of which 100 hectares are for perennial trees (rosewood, star apple), and more than 90 hectares are for raw material trees (acacia, eucalyptus).
Mr. Vo Duc Hau - Director of the Company, said that this year, the Company will plant 50 hectares, divided equally between perennial trees and raw material trees. The Company is currently completing procedures to implement on schedule.

One month earlier, the production forest planting project in Mang Yang commune with a total investment of 8 billion VND of Hieu Phuc Gia Lai Joint Stock Company was also granted an investment approval decision. The project was implemented in plot 3 of sub-area 496 on an area of 50 hectares. Ms. Truong Thi Thuy - Director of the Company - shared: The project implementation was quite favorable and quick when all procedures were guided and supported by the local authorities. We have completed the procedures and are starting to plant forests.
As one of the units effectively implementing the production forest planting project in the western region of the province, Minh Anh Nguyen Gia Lai One Member Co., Ltd. is implementing a project to plant and care for nearly 469 hectares of hybrid acacia and lolot with a total capital of 31.3 billion VND.
“The output of raw wood harvested after a 7-year cycle is about 150 - 200 m³/year. The company plans to exploit in 2027 and replant in 2028,” Mr. Truong Dinh Vinh, Director of the Company, informed.
Up to now, the West Gia Lai region has attracted 16 afforestation projects with a total registered capital of about 312 billion VND. Many enterprises have completed the afforestation plan, in which, Viet Stone Gia Lai Trading Company Limited invested in planting 540 hectares of forest in Ia Tul commune; Minh Phuoc Trading and Service Company Limited planted more than 561 hectares of forest in Ia Dreh commune and 373 hectares in Chu A Thai commune... This is evidence of the growing interest of enterprises in the afforestation sector in the West Gia Lai region.
Continue to improve the investment environment
The West of Gia Lai is currently the area with the largest forest area in the Central Highlands, accounting for 25.2% of the total forest area in the region and 4.3% of the total forest area in the country. Of the more than 631 thousand hectares of forested land, the natural forest area accounts for over 478 thousand hectares, the rest is planted forest. With this advantage, the province aims to increase the forest cover rate of the area from the current 47% to 47.75% by the end of 2025 and reach over 49.2% by 2030.

One of the important solutions that the province has implemented to achieve the above goal is to call for and attract non-budgetary capital investment for production forest planting projects, forest planting combined with livestock farming and wood processing. This source of capital not only contributes to increasing forest cover but also opens up a direction for sustainable economic development for local people.
The economic development potential from afforestation in the western region of the province has received much attention from investors. At the Gia Lai Investment Promotion Conference in 2025, among 13 projects in the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector that signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, there were 2 projects on forestry planting combined with large-scale livestock farming.
These are projects of Truong Hai Agriculture Joint Stock Company with a total estimated investment capital of 11,000 billion VND and Trung Nguyen Beef Breeding One Member Co., Ltd. with a total investment capital of 4,400 billion VND. These are considered key projects, creating new momentum for sustainable forestry development in the Western region.
To continue attracting investors in general, and investors in the forestry sector in particular, Gia Lai is continuing to make efforts to improve the investment environment, building it into an attractive and ideal destination. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that enterprises and investors are the driving force for development and "the success of enterprises is the success of the province". The province has been implementing many synchronous solutions to create a safe, transparent and effective investment environment.
Specifically, the province issued many preferential policies on land, tax, and credit for key sectors, including forestry. Administrative procedures were shortened by half compared to central regulations thanks to the "one-stop, one-stop" mechanism...
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: Gia Lai is always receptive, accompanies businesses, and resolutely and strictly handles officials and civil servants who cause difficulties, harassment, and affect the common development. The province is committed to creating an attractive, long-term and effective investment environment for the business community.
These are drastic moves by the province to turn the Western region into an attractive destination for investors in the forestry sector. The synchronous participation from the government to enterprises not only promotes economic development but also contributes significantly to protecting the ecological environment, responding to climate change and creating sustainable livelihoods for the people.
