Taking place in two sessions, morning and afternoon, the forum provided businesses with an overview of trade defense in the world ; the actual situation in Vietnam; issues that businesses need to pay attention to and new policies on trade defense that need to be clearly understood.
According to the Trade Defense Department, since its establishment, the department has handled 48 new investigations and 35 review cases, thereby recommending the Ministry of Industry and Trade to apply 36 trade defense measures on imported goods. Domestic manufacturing enterprises participating in these cases have a total annual revenue of nearly 600 trillion VND. Budget revenue from trade defense tax reaches about 1.6 trillion VND per year, contributing to strengthening national financial resources.
At the forum, experts assessed the key role of the private economic sector in implementing trade defense measures. In fact, 88% of trade defense investigations have the direct participation of private enterprises. Not only contributing on a large scale, private enterprises also demonstrate initiative, quick response to market fluctuations and have a clear awareness of the importance of trade defense. Filing lawsuits and participating in the investigation process helps them protect the manufacturing industry from unfair competition and cheap imported goods, while creating room for restructuring and optimizing production.

Director of the Trade Defense Department Luong Hoang Thai affirmed: Trade defense plays an important role in protecting domestic production, promoting international economic integration and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises. In the context of many fluctuations in the global supply chain, trade defense tools such as anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and self-defense taxes continue to play an important role in creating a healthy competitive environment, protecting the legitimate rights of enterprises and workers.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Trade Defense Department always want businesses to be proactive in assessing the situation and taking appropriate steps. The Department is ready to support and act as a bridge between management agencies and the business community, promoting proactive trade defense, improving competitiveness and deep integration into the global supply chain, contributing to the development of the private economy and creating sustainable added value for the Vietnamese economy.
