An Giang promotes the role of the private economy

To make that aspiration to reach further become a driving force for the province, practical accompanying solutions in terms of capital, land, technology, brand and trust from the government are needed.

Private enterprises assert their role

One day at the end of September 2025, at the office of Capeco International Education Joint Stock Company, Kien Giang branch, Rach Gia ward, the atmosphere was very busy. The staff here guided a group of 6 international students and young workers to complete the procedures to go to Japan and Taiwan.

The files were carefully checked, the eyes of the young people were filled with excitement. This is just one of many examples that the private economic sector is increasingly participating in many fields of labor export, human resource training, production, business, job creation, income improvement and opening the door to international integration.

Students of Nguyen Trung Truc High School participated in the study abroad consulting program organized by Capeco International Education Joint Stock Company, Kien Giang branch.

During the 2021 - 2025 term, under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee, the private economic sector in An Giang has developed strongly. The whole province has about 12,300 newly established enterprises, bringing the total number of operating enterprises by the end of 2025 to nearly 20,000 enterprises, with a total registered capital of more than 308,000 billion VND.

The province's average economic growth rate (GRDP) over the past 5 years has reached 5.68%, total budget revenue is estimated at 113,000 billion VND, total social investment capital is more than 325,000 billion VND, increasing by an average of nearly 10% per year. In particular, the private economic sector, despite facing many difficulties, still plays an important role, contributing 27.19% to the province's GRDP.

However, according to the An Giang Department of Finance, most businesses are still small and micro-sized, with limited management capacity and difficulty accessing capital and land. The rate of participation in the global supply chain is still low, while some units do not comply with the law and compete unfairly.

Dynamic and growing

Many dynamic private enterprises have opened new directions. Capeco International Education Joint Stock Company, Kien Giang branch, focuses on training foreign languages, soft skills, international connections, and preparing young workers.

Director of Capeco International Education Joint Stock Company, Kien Giang branch, Dang Quoc Huy said: “High-quality human resources are the key to sustainable business development. We want to contribute to training that force for our province.”

In the field of seafood processing, Thuan Loi Phat Tai Co., Ltd., Thanh Loc Commune is a typical example of the transformation from a business household to an enterprise. Director of Thuan Loi Phat Tai Co., Ltd. Le Thi Bich Nga said: "My dream is to build a separate brand of sea fish floss for An Giang, turning my hometown's specialty into a tourism product." Le Nga's sea fish floss product, which has achieved 3-star OCOP certification, has opened up opportunities to access a wider market.

In the field of agricultural processing, BiBo Rice Cake Company Limited (Vinh Phong Commune) is also a typical example. Director of BiBo Rice Cake Company Limited Truong Kim Bi frankly shared: “What I am not satisfied with is that the product design is still handmade, the packaging is not beautiful, so it is difficult to compete with foreign products. The factory really needs an automatic cutting machine and a modern packaging line. The packaging must be in both Vietnamese and English to bring to tourist areas, creating an impression for the product”.

Director of BiBo Rice Cake Company Limited Truong Kim Bi spoke at the workshop to find sustainable development solutions for OCOP subjects organized by the Farmers' Association of An Giang province.

According to Mr. Bi, private enterprises do not lack ambition, but lack investment resources. If supported with capital, production facilities can upgrade, expand their scale, and create more jobs for rural workers. He said that BiBo rice cake products have been trained according to Asta standards to prepare for export to the US, and are ready to participate in domestic consumption. At that time, farmers will have both a stable output and more jobs on the spot.

Stories from Capeco, Thai Thuy, and BiBo show that when young businesses dare to innovate and assert themselves, An Giang's private economy will have more impetus to integrate more deeply.

Accompanying the aspirations of young businesses

In order for the private economy to truly become an important driving force, many opinions believe that it is necessary to effectively implement the Central Resolutions, stimulate the start-up and innovation movement, create conditions for access to capital, land, and high-quality human resources. In addition, promote digital transformation, green transformation, and encourage the formation of private corporations capable of leading strategic projects.

According to Mr. Truong Kim Bi and many other entrepreneurs, what they expect most is more favorable credit policies and support in digital transformation. When the government accompanies, businesses will confidently expand their markets and increase product value.

An Giang's private economy is facing many great opportunities but also challenges. With the support of the government and the innovation efforts of the business community, we believe that by 2030, the private economy will truly become an important driving force, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of An Giang.
