According to Petrovietnam , Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company (PQPOC) has successfully carried out many important tasks that are decisive for the success of the Block B gas project, aiming to achieve the goal of having first gas (FG) in August 2027.

Specifically, in 2024, the company deployed the EPCI#1 and EPCI#2 packages in the limited award phase (LLOA) and then the full award phase (Full LOA). Along with that, the FSO package and other ancillary packages were bid.

PQPOC General Director Pham Xuan Phuc said that as of December 13, the overall progress of EPCI#1 package reached 12.82%, EPCI#2 package reached 24.39%. The design, procurement of equipment and materials, and manufacturing are on schedule.

The company also improves and completes processes and regulations according to international standards, applying the ISO system. Including the application of risk management systems, digital transformation, specialized software supporting geology, mining technology, drilling and well completion. Petrovietnam Board of Directors Chairman Le Manh Hung suggested that PQPOC pay attention to the need to focus on comprehensive management in the coming period, ensuring consistency between project components.

In addition, the application of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and seismic data analysis, is necessary to optimize project implementation and management.

In particular, PQPOC needs to deploy a series of synchronous solutions such as human resource attraction mechanisms, building a modern management system, ensuring progress, costs and interfaces. Control costs, manage quality and safety, ensure all stages and comply with quality and safety standards.

Previously, on October 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the signing ceremony of related contracts and the implementation of the Block B gas-power project chain.

This is a domestic gas-power project chain, a key state project on oil and gas, the largest gas-power project chain in Vietnam to date. The project includes the Lot B mine (upstream), the Lot B - O Mon pipeline project (midstream) and 4 gas-power plants O Mon I, II, III, IV in the downstream, with an investment scale of nearly 12 billion USD.

The expected gas output is about 5.06 billion ^m3 of gas/year, supplying the complex of 4 power plants at O ​​Mon Power Center with a total expected installed capacity of up to 3,800 MW, contributing to supplying an additional 22 billion kWh of electricity each year.
