The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has just announced the seeding group as well as the host of the group stage of the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Women's (Asian Women's Cup C1) to prepare for the group stage draw on September 11.

The 12 participating teams will be divided into 3 groups to compete in a round robin to determine rankings. The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

According to the AFC grouping, the representative of Vietnamese women's football is Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, which is in the second seed group and is also the host of one group. The hosts of the remaining two groups are Wuhan Jiangda (China) and the defending champion and ISPE (Myanmar).

According to the schedule, the group stage in Myanmar will take place from November 9 to 15. The group stage in Vietnam will take place from November 13 to 19, and in China from November 17 to 23.

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club still has no foreign players or overseas Vietnamese players to prepare for the continental playground. The team is playing the first leg of the National Women's Football Championship - Thai Son Bac Cup 2025 in Hanoi with all domestic players.

The reason given by coach Doan Thi Kim Chi is that good foreign players are hard to find and they are not willing to sign short-term contracts. Quality overseas Vietnamese players are also under contract with foreign clubs. As for overseas Vietnamese student players, the quality is not high.

In the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League for Women, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club was also given the right to host a group match at Thong Nhat Stadium by AFC. Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi's team only lost to Urawa Red Diamonds Club (Japan) and ranked second in Group C with 6 points after 3 matches.

In the quarter-final match also held at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club made history with an incredible comeback, defeating Abu Dhabi Country (UAE) 5-4 after being down 3-0. But Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club then lost 0-2 to host Wuhan Jiangda in the semi-finals.
