Announcing nominations for the 18th Bui Xuan Phai Award - For the Love of Hanoi - 2025

Sports and Culture Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency), the Organizing Committee of the 18th Bui Xuan Phai Award - For the Love of Hanoi in 2025 announced 11 official nominations of this year's season in 4 categories: Grand Prize, Work Prize, Work Prize and Idea Prize.

The award ceremony will take place from 7pm on Friday, October 3 at 45 Trang Tien (Hanoi).

Bui Xuan Phai Award - For the Love of Hanoi was established by Sports and Culture newspaper and the family of the late painter Bui Xuan Phai in 2008, to award authors, works, ideas, and jobs of high scientific and artistic value, imbued with love for Hanoi.

The jury of the Award includes prestigious names such as: poet Bang Viet, former Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association (Chairman of the Council); historian Duong Trung Quoc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Historical Association; journalist Ho Quang Loi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association; Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society; journalist Ngo Ha Thai, former Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency and journalist Nguyen Thien Thuat, Editor-in-Chief of the Sports and Culture newspaper.

Over 17 seasons, more than 160 authors, works, ideas, and activities have been recognized as official nominations, with more than 70 awards given, including 16 Grand Prizes awarded to: Hanoi scholar Nguyen Vinh Phuc (2009), writer To Hoai (2010), Professor Phan Huy Le (2011), guitarist Van Vuong (2012), photographer Quang Phung (2013), researcher Vu Tuan San (2014), researcher Giang Quan (2015), photographer Le Vuong (2016), researcher Huu Ngoc (2017), researcher Nguyen Ba Dam (2018), researcher Nguyen Thua Hy (2019), musician Phu Quang (2020), musician Hong Dang (2021), director Tran Van Thuy (2022), director Dang Nhat Minh (2023) and most recently Professor, Dr. Architect Hoang Dao Kinh (2024).

The annual award ceremony has become a festival to honor individuals and groups that have made many contributions to Hanoi during the year.

This year's Bui Xuan Phai Award - For the Love of Hanoi takes place on the occasion of many important events of the country, so the Organizing Committee decided to build an award ceremony with a worthy scale, combined with an exhibition of the best nominated authors and works.

In this year’s season, based on the expected list of nominees, through the preliminary and final rounds, the Jury approved the Official List of Nominations, including 11 nominees, in 4 categories. Of which, the Work category alone has 4 nominees. This reflects the richness and outstanding quality of the works and projects “for the love of Hanoi” announced in recent times.

The Grand Prize Nominations - the most important category - traditionally, each year, although considered from a wide list, only one Grand Prize Nomination is announced, and that nomination is kept secret until the Awards Ceremony.

2. A series of paintings about Hanoi by artist Pham Binh Chuong in 20 years of "Going to the streets"

3. Book "Hanoi Architecture - Vietnamese - French Cultural Exchange" (Tran Quoc Bao, The Gioi Publishing House)

4. Musical "Fire from the Earth" (Vietnam Youth Theater)

III. NOMINATIONS FOR JOB AWARD (3 nominations)

1. Initial steps to revive To Lich River

2. National Exhibition and Convention Center - a new "wonder" in Hanoi, a construction miracle in Vietnam

3. Restoration of two outdoor reliefs on Hang Long Street (Cua Nam Ward)

IV. IDEA AWARD NOMINATIONS (3 nominations)

1. A series of projects to improve and expand community space around Hoan Kiem Lake

2. A series of activities to honor Confucianism, towards the 950th anniversary of Quoc Tu Giam (1076 - 2026)

3. Project to build Hanoi Opera House and cultural and art park in Quang An (Tay Ho ward)
