The Department of Cinema speaks out about the movie "Let Me Shine" containing the "cow tongue line"

A series of films starring Trieu Lo Tu was found to contain images of the "cow tongue line" in violation of Vietnam's Cinema Law. The Cinema Department is asking platforms to propose solutions within the day.

On the morning of October 3, the Department of Cinema issued a document requesting a report and explanation on the distribution of the Chinese-produced series "Let Me Shine."

The document was sent to representatives of the owners of online platforms showing this film in Vietnam, including Viettel Telecom Corporation,FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company, VieOn Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Satellite Digital Television Company and Tencent Holdings Limited.

The document of the Department of Cinema stated: "Through the State management activities of cinema, the Department of Cinema received information reflecting that the film 'Let me shine' produced by China, is being disseminated on cyberspace, including the image of the 'cow tongue map' violating national sovereignty and violating Article 9 of the 2022 Cinema Law."

Accordingly, the Department of Cinema requires film dissemination platforms to report and clearly show information (film name, country of production, supplier), dissemination form (copyright purchase, distribution cooperation...), dissemination time on the platform, film censorship and classification process before dissemination, and propose handling measures of the platform in case of violation.

Deadline for submitting reports is before 11:00 a.m. the same day (October 3, 2025).

"Let Me Shine" starring Trieu Lo Tu has received a lot of attention. In Vietnam, the 15th episode of the film is currently airing on various platforms. However, on the evening of October 2, through some pirated film sites, some viewers discovered that the 16th episode had details of the "cow tongue line" and immediately spoke out on social media.

According to the reporter's records at this time, some platforms have not yet appeared the above episode.

Also on the morning of October 3, FPT Play's official fanpage announced that it had "removed and deleted the entire movie 'Let Me Shine' from the system due to inappropriate suspicions."

"The drama ' Let Me Shine' is currently airing episode 15. During the process of censoring the upcoming parallel episodes, we discovered that episode 16 contained images and information that did not comply with regulations (suspected to be related to the "cow tongue line"), we immediately removed all of this content from the system even before this episode aired.
