According to the Cinema Department, the National Council for Film Selection for the Oscars for the 2025-2026 term met, discussed and voted according to the Academy's Charter 16 with 5 members who are prestigious managers, artists, directors and screenwriters. Red Rain is highly trusted, becoming the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the preliminary round.
Director of the Department of Cinema Dang Tran Cuong emphasized that Red Rain has both artistic quality and the mission of promoting the image of the country, people and history of Vietnam to international friends. Set in the revolutionary war, the film realistically and movingly recreates the tragic pages of history, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers.
Director Dang Thai Huyen's work impresses by combining epic spirit with a modern perspective; a humane story, elaborate images, emotional music and convincing acting, opening up the possibility of connecting with international audiences.

According to the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Army Cinema coordinated with the Cinema Department to complete the documents, prepare the film with English subtitles and send it to the Organizing Committee on time.
Over the past three decades, Vietnamese cinema has had works in the International Feature Film category such as The Scent of Green Papaya (1993), Ao Lua Ha Dong (2006), I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass (2016), Hai Phuong (2019)... Although they have not won any awards, these are all important milestones in bringing Vietnamese cinema to the world .
With Red Rain, the expectation is not only to advance in the awards but also to have the opportunity to introduce a resilient, humane, and creative Vietnam to the global public.
