Saving an old woman with a large tumor compressing her heart and lungs

Previously, Ms. LTT (74 years old, living in Da Nang ) was hospitalized with difficulty breathing and chest pain.

Through examination, doctors discovered a large tumor in the mediastinum, pressing on the lungs, blocking the airway, and compressing the heart.

This tumor is up to 15x8 cm in size, larger than 1/3 of the lung, causing respiratory failure.

Doctors from the General Oncology Department performed surgery to remove the tumor within 3 hours.

Dr. Dang Nguyen Kha, Head of the General Oncology Department, said this was a rare case where the patient's tumor was too large, causing compression of the lungs, heart, and arteries, making the surgery complicated. Currently, the patient's health is recovering well and he can be discharged soon.
