This is one of the new technology applications such as AI in improving student quality, shared at the International Conference 2025 Internationalization in Leadership and Management of Higher Education .

The workshop was organized by the SEAMEO Regional Training Center in Vietnam and Canadian education associations on October 8 and 9, 2025.

Dr. Nathalia Holtzman, acting Vice Chancellor of the College of Staten Island, City University of New York (CUNY) system, shared that today's students are mostly very practical, not choosing a school just because of its reputation or tradition, but because of its ability to help them get a job that matches their abilities.

Dr. Nathalia Holtzman believes that in the face of that reality, her school - CUNY, also the largest public university system in the US, with 25 training facilities and more than 250,000 students - must reshape its direction, no longer purely considering universities as "academic ivory towers", but must flexibly change and adapt to reality so that students can have good jobs.

In particular, CUNY is integrating AI directly into career guidance and job search activities. AI systems are developed to read and analyze students' academic data, thereby suggesting suitable courses, predicting early risks of failing standards and suggesting support resources such as academic advising or internships.

AI also acts as a “personal coach,” helping students draft resumes, automatically reviewing CVs and cover letters against each job description, and simulating career interviews, asking questions, scoring communication skills, and suggesting ways to improve.

These tools can even analyze millions of job postings to pinpoint which skill sets are in demand in the labor market, helping learners tailor their skill development plans.
