Teacher strangled colleague because he was… reminded

Just because the school’s Youth Union Secretary reminded him to park his bike in the right place, a high school teacher in Dak Lak strangled and threatened his colleague right at the school gate. This person had been disciplined twice for similar behavior.

On October 7, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Ea O commune, Dak Lak province) - said that he had reported the incident of a teacher assaulting and strangling a colleague because he was... reminded to park his vehicle properly.

According to Mr. Dung, the incident happened right on the campus of Vo Nguyen Giap High School, during working hours, in front of many students, causing a stir in public opinion and affecting the school's reputation.

Mr. Dung informed that at about 7:10 am on October 3, while performing the task of checking student discipline and monitoring order assigned by the principal, Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh, Secretary of the school's Youth Union, saw Mr. Dang Tang, a math-IT teacher, parking his motorbike in the wrong place in the school yard. Mr. Sinh came to remind him and asked Mr. Tang to move his motorbike to the right place.

However, instead of complying, Mr. Dang Tang reacted harshly, raised his voice and threatened his colleague. Then, Mr. Tang approached and squeezed Mr. Sinh's neck twice, right in front of the school security and some students.

Security guards promptly intervened to prevent the incident from continuing. However, this action caused Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh to suffer neck injuries, causing mental confusion, affecting his health and teaching.

According to the Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School, the incident not only disturbed order on the school campus during working hours, but also caused psychological shock to students witnessing it, affecting the safe and healthy educational environment.

The school has reported to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, requesting that the authorities review and handle Mr. Dang Tang's behavior according to the law.

Previously, in January 2024, Mr. Dang Tang was disciplined by Vo Nguyen Giap High School for violating teachers' ethics, violating the body and insulting the honor and dignity of students.

In January 2025, he continued to be disciplined with a warning for the same reason.

Mr. Dung said that in the past, the school's board of directors had met many times, reminded and disciplined Mr. Dang Tang, but the incident still recurred, making the teaching staff very tired.

"I don't understand why Mr. Tang keeps violating like that. After each time it happens, I work, make a record and report to my superiors, but he still doesn't change," said Mr. Dung.

Teachers who assault colleagues will be severely punished.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Phan Nhat Khanh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province - said that the department has received a report from Vo Nguyen Giap High School and has issued a document instructing how to handle teachers and staff who violate the rules in schools.

According to Mr. Khanh, the department's viewpoint is to strictly handle violations, absolutely not cover up, to ensure strict discipline and maintain a clean and healthy pedagogical environment.
