We arrived at R'cung village, Bhalêê commune in the border area of Tay Giang district at the exact moment when Ms. Bnướch Thi Blặc was bringing corn to the chickens at the farm not far from her house. Her garden is more than 5 hectares wide with fruit trees, cinnamon and a chicken farm.
Ms. Bnương Thị Blạc said: Now I have an orchard, a pig pen, a chicken farm, and my economy has improved a lot. When I first got married, I only raised a few pigs, which was not enough to make ends meet. Fortunately, thanks to the support policies of the Party, the State, and the cadres who guided me on farming and raising techniques, I am very grateful.
Thanks to her diligence, after a while, the herd of more than ten pigs brought a decent amount of capital to Ms. Blac's family. With the money she saved, she opened a chicken farm on the barren land. The herd gradually increased, from a few dozen at first, then to 500, and now more than 2,000 each year.
Ms. Blac's family's chickens are free-range, have delicious meat, and are ordered by many people in Da Nang and neighboring areas. Currently, she sells 3-4 batches each year, each batch of 300-500 chickens, bringing in a large income for the family. With the profit from raising livestock and poultry, Ms. Blac continues to invest in growing fruit trees. After 5 years, her family owns more than 1.6 hectares of fruit trees including oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits.
Not only that, she also uses short-term to support long-term, saving small profits to make a big profit, with profits from pigs and chickens, the family invested in clearing fields to grow fruit trees, and planted about 3 hectares of cinnamon... With the money collected from the above sources, she and her husband invested in buying motor vehicles to transport and level garden land for people to do business. Currently, she and her husband have bought 2 excavators and 1 dump truck with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND... Up to now, her family can earn more than 500 million VND each year from economic models. Ms. Bnuoc Thi Blac has become a shining example in increasing production for the community to learn and follow.
Not only the family of Ms. Bnướch Thi Blac, in recent years, many Co Tu households in Tay Giang have dared to think, to do, to change their production model to escape poverty. In A Tieng commune, Mr. Radal Nhi is one of such typical households. From growing acacia trees which were not very effective, his family boldly changed their economic model to growing fruit trees and earned quite a profit.
Five years ago, Mr. Nhi mainly planted acacia and cassava. Since 2018, he has studied some fruit tree growing models and was allowed to visit some garden economic development models. Through practical observations and understanding of the local soil, he realized that Vinh orange trees have a lot of potential, so he boldly invested in them.
“Thinking is doing, I started to plant 100 Vinh orange trees on my family's acacia plantation on a trial basis. After a period of care, seeing that the trees were growing well, stably, and suitable for the land, I continued to invest in planting 100 more Vinh orange trees to replace the acacia plantation area. Having been trained in tree care techniques, I boldly borrowed capital and expanded the area to more than 5,000 square meters. Up to now, my family's orange garden has yielded an average of 2-3 tons per crop. After deducting expenses, the orange garden brings my family 70 million VND each crop.”
Not only does he develop his own economy, Mr. Nhi also enthusiastically guides people in need on how to plant and care for Vinh orange trees. In addition, his family's orange garden helps 10 seasonal workers earn extra income. By changing the production model to escape poverty and helping some households develop their economy, Mr. Răđăl Nhị was recognized for his contribution to local economic development.
Mr. Tran Van Ta - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Tay Giang district said: From support sources from all levels, in the past time, Tay Giang district has expanded the direction of investment in garden economic development in the direction of prioritizing the development of local specialty plants, encouraging the construction of value chains linking production and consumption. "In the past time, the district has arranged and integrated many capital sources to support seedlings and livestock so that people can develop their economy. Along with timely commendation and recognition of typical households, the locality also propagates, encourages and provides effective and timely support for people to change economic models and become rich" - Mr. Ta said.
