The creepy zombies in the series “The Walking Dead” that have haunted millions of global audiences for nearly 15 years will now “revive” in a completely different way: through an online auction of more than 1,000 legendary props associated with this famous TV series.
Organized by AMC Networks in collaboration with Heritage Auctions, the auction runs through November 1 and features iconic items spanning the first season in 2010 through its finale in 2022, as well as spin-off series that continue the “ The Walking Dead” universe.
Greg Nicotero, makeup supervisor, executive producer and director of the show, said the auction is not just an opportunity to own an artifact, but also a journey back to the golden age of the franchise when “The Walking Dead” changed the way the world produces television.
Among the featured items are Glenn Rhee's (Steven Yeun) guitar, which starts at $1,000; Carol Peletier's (Melissa McBride) pickaxe from the first season; a set of five zombie masks; and the 1971 Pontiac Tempest from the premiere, which starts at $25,000.
Some other items start from just $500, opening up opportunities for fans to collect.
“It’s hard not to feel the rush of memories when you look at the auction catalog,” said Mr. Nicotero. “These items make iconic moments more real. They’re not just images on a screen, they’re something you can touch and hold.”
Released on Halloween in 2010, “The Walking Dead” redefined the zombie movie genre by exploring the depth of human emotions in a post-apocalyptic world.
Although the original series has ended, the universe continues to expand with projects such as “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” (season 3 is currently airing) and “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” - where the two characters Rick Grimes and Michonne reunite, released last year./.
