According to the latest report from Nepalese authorities, the number of victims killed in the earthquake that occurred on the evening of November 3 in the western mountainous region of this country has reached at least 157 people. Security forces quickly arrived at the scene, assisting rescue workers in searching for missing people in the rubble in the area near the epicenter of the earthquake.
A spokesman for Nepal's police said Jajarkot and Rukum were the two districts of Karnali province that suffered the most damage in the 5.6 magnitude earthquake, with the death toll recorded in these two localities being 105 and 52, respectively.
In addition, the earthquake also injured more than 100 other people in the two districts above.
Security forces have been deployed both on land and in the air to assist in the search and rescue operation. However, the rescue operation has been hampered by the fact that many roads leading to the affected areas were destroyed in the earthquake.
