On September 4, the Department of Finance of Da Nang City responded to a report that after registering for establishment, a business continuously received dozens of calls impersonating financial and tax officers asking to add Zalo as friends to complete procedures.

Previously, Mr. NTM (residing in Da Nang ) reported through the city's feedback portal that after registering his business at the Department of Finance on August 23, he continuously received 20 calls from strange numbers, claiming to be officials of the Department of Finance and Thanh Khe Tax Department. These people asked him to add Zalo to complete the procedures for his business.

Realizing that the calls were fraudulent, Mr. M. immediately disconnected the call and continued to receive rude calls. Before registering his business, he had never received such calls.

Regarding the incident, the Da Nang Department of Finance affirmed that it has no policy, nor does it send civil servants to proactively contact people and businesses via phone or social networks to guide them in installing the application and adding Zalo friends to carry out administrative procedures.

The Department said that the unit has issued a warning document about the impersonation of the department to commit fraud, and at the same time transferred the information to the Police Investigation Agency for coordination in handling.

The Department of Finance recommends that people and businesses need to be vigilant and absolutely do not provide personal information, bank accounts, transfer money or follow illegal instructions from strangers via phone or social networks.

“When receiving messages or calls that show signs of fraud, it is necessary to save evidence such as messages, recordings and report to the telecommunications company managing the subscriber for handling; at the same time, provide evidence to the police to promptly handle violators,” the Da Nang City Department of Finance noted.
