Although some industries recorded positive growth, overall, Ha Tinh 's export picture in the first 9 months of 2025 still faced many difficulties. The total export turnover of the whole province in the first 9 months reached 1.288 billion USD, down 24.91% compared to the same period in 2024. The main reason came from the decline in steel products produced by Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation (FHS) (accounting for 88.6% of the total export value of the whole province).

Faced with protectionist policies for the steel industry in many countries, including the US, FHS's export activities have encountered difficulties in recent times. Although Ha Tinh's textile and fiber products have seen strong growth compared to the same period in 2024 (66.5% and 84.2% respectively), because they only account for about 1.5% of the province's total export turnover, they have not yet had a big impact on the overall picture.
By the end of the third quarter of 2025, Ha Tinh had only completed 51.52% of the annual export plan. To get closer to the target of 2.5 billion USD by the end of the year, businesses must accelerate with flexible production and business strategies, promote market expansion, and maximize the advantages of 17 new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) with over 60 countries and territories that Vietnam has signed.
Faced with tariff barriers from the US and some countries applying protectionist policies, in the last months of the year, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited has promoted its strategy of diversifying export markets. In particular, focusing on exporting to countries such as the UK, Russia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand...
In parallel, the province also focuses on supporting potential and strong commodity groups such as garments, fibers, textiles, tea, seafood, etc. to expand production scale, promote trade, connect markets, and contribute to increasing the overall export turnover.

At Nghe Tinh Fiber Joint Stock Company (Nam Hong Industrial Park), production and business activities are bustling to meet orders from: Korea, India, Pakistan... The company focuses on producing yarn lines Ne 20/1, Ne 30/1, Ne 16/1, Ne 21/1, Ne 22/1, with the goal of completing an output of 4,940 tons of yarn, revenue of about 550 billion VND, of which export reaches 11 million USD.
Ms. Dao Thi Phuong - Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union, Head of Human Resources Department (Nghe Tinh Fiber Joint Stock Company) said: "We prioritize investing in traceability technology to enhance our reputation, build a green production model according to international standards, and diversify the market to reduce risks in the face of global fluctuations."
In the final "sprint" of the year, many enterprises in the fields of garment, packaging, tea, seafood... in the area are also rushing to complete their annual plans. The key solutions prioritized by enterprises are investment in technology - automation, cost optimization, improving product quality, and enhancing competitiveness in the market.

Mr. Vo Ta Nghia - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Tinh said: In the fourth quarter, the Department will continue to coordinate and advise on solutions to remove difficulties for production - import and export activities, especially in the context of many fluctuations in the world market. Facilitate the implementation of administrative procedures, especially transferring the authority to issue certificates of origin of goods from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Department to create favorable conditions for businesses; increase support for businesses to access FTAs to take advantage of market expansion opportunities.
The Department of Industry and Trade also proactively introduces and works with Vietnamese trade offices abroad, connecting local export enterprises with multinational corporations, FDI enterprises and domestic and foreign logistics systems to improve the capacity to participate in the global supply chain, increasing the value of the province's export products. Trade promotion, supply-demand connection, cross-border e-commerce development continue to be implemented synchronously, in a professional, digital and sustainable direction. The Department also strengthens early warning of trade defense measures, guides and supports businesses in responding to and handling disputes; promptly provides information on regulations, green standards, rules of origin, new consumption trends from key markets such as the EU, the United States, Japan, Korea, etc.
At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade is building a policy for developing Ha Tinh's export and logistics for the period 2026 - 2030, including orientations for developing logistics infrastructure, encouraging businesses to invest in green and sustainable export value chains, applying digital technology, creating a solid foundation for the export business sector to develop long-term, contributing positively to economic growth and structural transformation of the province.

Despite facing challenges, especially the decline in the steel industry – a key export product, Ha Tinh still shows a foundation for sustainable growth thanks to the dynamism of the business community and the active role of the local government. The province’s proactive efforts to overcome difficulties, promote trade, diversify markets and make good use of FTAs will be the “key” to a breakthrough in the final period of the year.
However, to maintain long-term growth momentum and reduce dependence on a single industry, Ha Tinh needs to promote restructuring of export structure, develop evenly product groups with high added value, invest heavily in supply chain - logistics, as well as strengthen trade defense capacity for enterprises. At the same time, enterprises need to focus on improving quality standards, greening production, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of international markets.
