Vietnam women's team meets hosts China and Uzbekistan

On the afternoon of October 21, the Vietnamese women's team landed at Chongqing airport, ready to compete in the international friendly women's football tournament - Chongqing Yongchuan Women's Tournament. The tournament takes place from October 23 to October 29 in Chongqing (China).

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will compete with the Uzbekistan women's team at 2:30 p.m. on October 23. After that, coach Mai Duc Chung's team will face the Chinese women's team at 6:35 p.m. on October 29.

The Vietnamese women's team will gather on October 9 in Hanoi , before moving to China.

Before the tournament, coach Mai Duc Chung commented: "In the near future, we will be playing against the Chinese women's team. This is a very strong team, ranked many places higher than the Vietnamese women's team on the FIFA rankings. Meanwhile, the opponent Uzbekistan has the same level. This is a good opportunity for the players of the Vietnamese team to learn."

Sharing about this tournament, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh said that although this is a friendly tournament, it is very important for the Vietnamese women's team, in the context of not participating in international tournaments in 2024. "Every training trip and friendly match is a good opportunity to accumulate experience. I hope that young players will have more opportunities to compete and learn from different opponents, especially teams with advantages in stature and physical strength. Because only through competition can players quickly improve," the goalkeeper of the Vietnamese women's team shared.

This afternoon (October 22), head coach Mai Duc Chung will attend a pre-tournament press conference. Afterwards, the players will also have an official training session at the Yongchuan Sports Center, before playing their opening match against the Uzbekistan women's team on the afternoon of October 23.
