Vietnam team has not yet determined the home field for the big match against Malaysia: My Dinh is eliminated?

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has yet to finalize the venue for the rematch between Vietnam and Malaysia in the second qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, taking place on March 31, 2026.

Which candidate will be chosen as the home stadium of the Vietnam national team?

The return match between Vietnam and Malaysia is considered crucial for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team's journey to the 2027 Asian Cup finals, after a bitter 0-4 defeat in the first leg away from home.

Other international friendlies and qualifiers have been specifically determined, the match against Malaysia is still under consideration. Specifically: October 9, 2025: Vietnam meets Nepal at Binh Duong Stadium. October 14, 2025: Vietnam rematches Nepal at Thong Nhat Stadium. The match against Laos (first leg of the qualifiers) will be played away.

The choice of home field for the rematch with Malaysia is said to have a great influence on the psychology, tactics and performance of the Vietnamese team.

My Dinh Stadium ( Hanoi ) is unlikely to be selected because the stadium is undergoing a surface upgrade that will take several months to complete. Thong Nhat Stadium, Binh Duong Stadium, or Viet Tri Stadium could be discussed for the VFF to make a final decision.

Coach Kim Sang-sik: “Failure is still failure, but we do not give up”

In June 2025, speaking after the heavy defeat against Malaysia, head coach Kim Sang-sik did not avoid responsibility and shared sincerely: “Although we lost, I think our players played their best. Football rarely goes according to plan. Although the players still have shortcomings, we still have time and will try our best to prepare well for the match next year.”

The Korean coach could not hide his regret when Vietnam could not score an honorary goal on away ground: Coach Kim Sang-sik is under a lot of pressure to improve the team's playing style and spirit. However, with many matches ahead and especially the rematch against Malaysia at home, fans still have reason to hope for a comeback.

The remaining issue – and one that is of particular interest to the public – is which "holy land" the VFF will choose so that the Vietnamese team can take full advantage of home field advantage, creating a mental boost in the life-and-death battle at the end of March next year.
