Traveling alone - Need courage instead of recklessness

Traveling alone is not a new story, because this travel trend is increasingly interested by young people following the trend of carrying a backpack and going… But not everyone has enough knowledge to handle unexpected situations.

The article "Skills for having fun alone" in the "Travel Lover" group on social networks attracted more than 3,000 likes and comments from young people. Many opinions agreed, expressing that traveling alone is a way to overcome one's own limitations such as being afraid to communicate with strangers, experiencing new routes, foreign language skills and balancing finances when traveling. But there are also many opposing opinions such as: How will you handle it when you get lost, get carsick, or lose luggage?; If your foreign language communication skills are not good, who should you ask for help in the situation of traveling alone abroad and losing luggage/identity documents?; If you choose a trip that includes mountain climbing/trekking but you are not healthy enough or get sick while traveling, what should you do?...

Twice traveling alone and this summer, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Anh (26 years old, living in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) decided to go with a group of friends. “Traveling alone, you can freely decide where to stop, where to stay, what to eat... but in return, you must have good health and travel skills such as using a map on your phone to find directions. The two times I experienced traveling alone, I felt happy but a bit tired because I get carsick, and I had no friends or family to support me,” Ms. Hong Anh shared.

Once, Mr. Huynh Thai An (30 years old, living in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City) planned to travel to Thailand alone and only had money in his account, but his foreign language communication skills were not good. Thai An said: “On the first day of arriving and checking into the hotel, walking around nearby, I started to feel bored because I couldn't communicate much, couldn't learn interesting things. On the second day, I posted in a group on social networks, Vietnamese people in Thailand, luckily connected with a friend who was studying cosmetology here. He communicated very well in Thai and English, took me to many places and introduced the culture of each place. After the trip, I learned that traveling abroad alone requires foreign language skills, otherwise, I just book a tour and go, otherwise it's very boring."

The experience of traveling alone is also necessary when you need a quiet break and challenge yourself. But to come to this decision, young people need skills and courage rather than recklessness.
