Heavy rain on the night of September 22 and early morning of September 23 caused two major landslides at Km19 and Km20. Hundreds of cubic meters of soil, rocks and trees from the slopes flooded down, burying the road. By noon of the same day, the road was still blocked, people could not move, and the management and protection of the forest by the authorities also encountered many difficulties.

Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of Mo Rai commune reported to the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province to promptly have a solution to ensure the route is cleared in the shortest time, creating convenience for people to travel.

Provincial Road 674 is 36km long and is a vital route connecting the border commune of Mo Rai with Sa Thay commune, Quang Ngai province. Due to serious landslides, Sa Thay residents who want to go to Mo Rai commune have to take a detour, a longer distance of about 15km.
