Nearly 200 pairs of Lien Anh and Lien Chi singers participate in the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Contest in the Spring of the Year of the Dragon.

As planned, the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs Open Competition in the Spring of the Year of the Dragon will take place from March 12 to 14, 2024 at the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs Theater (Viem Xa area, Hoa Long ward, Bac Ninh city).

The contest consists of two main contents: Quan Ho music stage with 9 art troupes from 8 districts, towns and cities participating. The singing competition stage attracted 191 Lien Anh and Lien Chi couples from Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, of which 28 couples competed with 150 sentences and 163 couples competed with 50 sentences.

To ensure the quality of the contest is improved, preserve and promote the typical values of Quan Ho culture and the Quan Ho singing movement in the community, the Organizing Committee has selected 121 couples for the next round.

The contestants are male and female couples from 18 to 65 years old who are working, studying and working in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang provinces or other provinces.

The contest is an opportunity for Quan Ho singers, the typical cultural and artistic cores of the two provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang to meet, exchange and share experiences in preserving the unique values of Quan Ho cultural activities. It arouses pride and raises the sense of responsibility of the Quan Ho community in practicing and transmitting Quan Ho culture.

At the same time, to select and discover core nuclei and young talents in Quan Ho performance practice, affirming the strong vitality of the Quan Ho cultural and singing movement that is increasingly developing in contemporary life.
