Make an impression with Hermès-style smudged eyeliner

In her first show in the United States, launching her Resort 2025 collection, the artistic director of the French fashion house Hermès, Nadège Vanhée, took inspiration from the vibrant, mobile New Yorkers and infused them with a bit of the quiet, luxurious and elegant Parisian style to create a new makeup style. Showing on the models both sharp and smudged (vague and vague) eyeliner, the Hermès makeup style on the catwalk clearly created a special attraction, appeal. Gregoris Pyrpylis, makeup artist and creative director of Hermès Beauty, explains: "I want the makeup to look like it's eight o'clock at night, whether the girl is doing it in the morning or at any other time of the day. So the makeup has to be a little bit translucent, a little bit dewy, a little bit smudged. You even have to smudge it with your fingertips to get the effect you want."

To create the smudged yet vibrant, grainy eyeliner look, Gregoris Pyrpylis drew from Hermès Beauty's Le Regard collection, which encourages everyone to express themselves through color. Specifically, Pyrpylis used the brand's new eyeliner (which will be launching globally this fall) to create a mix of browns, greens, dark blues, and dark plums, then finished them off with a matte and shimmery base for the necessary blur.

Gregoris Pyrpylis applied eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines, using a small brush to create a "slightly blended but not too much" effect. He then applied another layer of eyeliner and blended it in to create a "slightly blurred, misty effect around the eyes." Additionally, the eyes were coated with brown or black Trait d'Hermès mascara at the base of the lashes to create emphasis. As for the rest of the makeup, au naturel (natural) is the best word to describe this look.

"For summer and autumn, beauty, specifically the beauty of makeup, always hides imperfections. Therefore, a little smudge at the end of the day is the main inspiration for this makeup style. A woman who has a stressful day at work, moving around, will have a hard time keeping her makeup smooth. However, if she chooses a freer, more realistic and closer style, she will be more natural and dynamic, making her beauty much more youthful," Pyrpylis said.
