Pretending to be workers, entering a company to steal money from foreigners, 2 defendants received sentences

On the afternoon of January 3, the People's Court of Binh Phuoc province held a first-instance trial and sentenced defendant Bui Van Hai (49 years old) to 13 years in prison and Tran Tan Vu (29 years old, both living in Binh Duong ) to 12 years in prison, both for theft of property.

According to the indictment, due to needing money to pay debts and spend, Hai invited Vu to industrial parks in Binh Phuoc province to steal property.

Hai bought a hat and protective clothing, pretended to be a worker of Company F. (Bac Dong Phu Industrial Park, Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc) and then hid in the company to steal property.

Two defendants sentenced for stealing money from foreigners

At about 1:00 p.m. on October 10, 2022, Vu and Hai arrived at the main gate of Company F. Vu waited outside, while Hai wore protective gear and entered the company premises without being detected by the security force.

When arriving at the foreign dormitory, Hai saw the door of a Taiwanese man (53 years old) was ajar, so he sneaked in and stole 480 million VND, 7,463 USD and 35 other foreign currency notes.

After stealing the money, Hai and Vu split it up and spent it. When the Taiwanese man learned of the theft, he went to the police to report it.

On October 23, 2022, Hai and Vu were arrested by Dong Phu District Police. Both confessed to their crimes.
