Bringing culture closer to the public
On weekends or holidays, if you have the opportunity to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site ( Ho Chi Minh City), in addition to visiting historical sites, many people are surprised by a cultural space of the Stieng people being performed here. The cultural space is decorated with many eye-catching miniatures, recreating the cultural life as well as the spiritual life of the Stieng people.
From the stilt house, the space for the new rice offering ceremony, to the image of pounding rice with a pestle and pestle, the sound of gongs, the dances and music typical of the Stieng people have been skillfully displayed and performed by the members here. This is the fourth time that members of the Binh Phuoc Stieng Cultural Club have performed at the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Deputy Director of Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site shared: Located in a convenient location, after visiting all the historical sites in Cu Chi Tunnels, visitors will stop and experience the unique culture of the Stieng people. This activity has received very positive feedback from visitors.
In a space rich in cultural and historical values, the echoes of gongs create a strong impression, attracting visitors to listen and enjoy.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Tam, a tourist visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site, happily shared: “I really like seeing the Stieng people perform like that. The cultural features that are only closely related to the lives of the people have been renewed and spread by you so that everyone can know and participate.”
“The culture of the Stieng people has many heritages that have been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. When we bring these products to friends outside the province, they are well received because they carry the typical regional flavor and culture of ethnic minorities. When there is a “land” to perform, it not only creates income for people, but also motivates them to be aware of preserving and spreading the culture of their people.”
Mr. Nguyen Viet Doi, Vice Chairman of Tan Khai Commune People's Committee,
Head of the Stieng Cultural Club of Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai province
Keep the love of culture alive
Dieu Duy Linh is only 9 years old this year, but he is already an active member of the gong team of the Stieng Culture Club of Binh Phuoc. Every time he participates in a performance, he understands and is very "enchanted" by the special sounds of his people. Although young, Duy Linh boldly joined the club with the sole desire to keep the flame of love for ethnic culture burning.
myself
Duy Linh shared: At first, it was very difficult to play, but thanks to the guidance of the elders, I understood and was able to join in with everyone. I will try to learn and preserve the special culture of my people.
Established 3 years ago, the Binh Phuoc Stieng Cultural Club has become a common home for artisans, village elders and young people who love ethnic culture. After returning from performances, they often go to the village cultural house to meet, practice, exchange and organize many activities related to community life. Village elders teach young people how to play gongs to the rhythm of festivals; artisans pass on weaving frames, instruct on threads and brocade patterns; young people learn dances and songs to perform during festivals.
Ms. Thi Minh Kha, a member of the Club, excitedly shared: As a young generation, I really like the artists who have passed on to me the dances and songs imbued with the culture of my people. I always try to learn a lot to contribute to preserving and spreading it to others.
everybody.

Not only stopping at performing and teaching, the Binh Phuoc Stieng Cultural Club also plays an important role in building cultural tourism products. Because the performance schedule at relic sites and tourist areas is often built according to tours with many accompanying activities. That is the direct experience of playing gongs, participating in weaving brocade, pounding rice with pestles... And especially the campfire nights associated with traditional festivals have become the highlight of the Stieng people in Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai province. Thereby, the image of the Stieng people is not only present in community life but also steps outside, known and respected by friends and tourists at home and abroad. This is the path connecting cultural preservation and socio-economic development, contributing to enriching the spiritual and material life of the people.
